Somebody recommending 5* of advance for this engine is somebody who does NOT understand combustion fundamentals....
What's wrong with you? Is English not your first Language?
Firstly; your "somebody" has a name;
they call me AJ.
Secondly, Did I tell Op to set his timing to 5 degrees?
Thirdly, did I even say I would set his timing to 5 degrees?
No, I did not, Go read my post.
What I said was ;
"I can make that thing idle at 550 in gear and pulling itself on flat level, hard ground with 5 measly degrees of Timing advance. Maybe even 500."
OP's combo will not be the first one, in the which, I have proved this to be true; which is why I can say that with confidence. Where I will actually set it to, well, I will let the engine tell me.

None of us need nor want your snide/underhanded, borderline cowardly, comments.
Listen; when you say stupid chit on the forum; I don't say nothing against you, I say my piece and let OP decide for himself. You would do well to do likewise.

I'll tell you what I'll do, just for you;
When OP gets here, well crank the Idle-timing to 25/30 degrees like you said in post 13, and report back. Let the truth come out.

If you were not recommending to use using 5* of advance to the OP, then what was the point of your statement???????? Who was it aimed at? Were you recommending it for the garden fairy? Own it.

The reason I used the word 'somebody' was that I did not want to make it personal by naming a person...or the post#. The purpose of my post was to point out that 'somebody' doesn't understand the combustion/ign timing relationship.

There is/was nothing underhanded, snide or cowardly about what I said. My name is there & what I said is there for all to see. I don't want you to do a damn thing for me.

Hello all again,

Finished cutting all the plugs that went to nothing out, now the car will crank but only try and start when the key is released. Will try and trace what I cut out.

Also a thing that’s always been with this car is sometimes when you turn the dash lights on, it will activate the starter. Scouring the service manual I can’t really see those 2 wires being close to each other that might be touching but I will keep digging

Ok figured it out, I had a wire under the dash that came unplugged from a crimp, doh! Car runs again. Now with the MSD ballast installed (with some jumpers) I’m getting 6.5v at the coil while running. I’m not sure if it’s because I just jumped the 4pin plugs to a 2 pin style that killing the last of my voltage so what wires so I have to keep/get rid of to clean it up? See photo

Great to see another 75 Plymouth Scamp/Brougham on the road!

Hopefully you can make it over to AJ so he can help you out.

I can’t help notice from the photos that your engine bay wiring looks like a bit of an accident waiting to happen. Hopefully cleaning that up is on the list too?

Yeah I took the photos when I took off all the wire loom, it doesn't normally look like that lol. Gotta make it messy to make it clean. I'll take another photo when I'm done so everyone can judge how I did haha.

Love the look on your car!
