Need new tires for my Cuda, bought 7x15 steelies.
Had some Falken Niex 205/70 14", pretty happy with corner performance in the mountains, not excessive but fast.
How perform these BF Goodrichs?
other options are these, fing expensive, more than double the price
Avon CR6ZZ | 245/60R15 101V A29

Don’t know about cornering, but they are way more sticky for straight line performance.

Aren't they made by Coker now?

Both my cars would smoke the Radial T/A's on the freeway. Both cars were pretty scary to drive with the T/A's. It was like driving on a snow covered road. For the rear, I opted for the Nitto 555 Drag Radials. They are amazing if you keep them in their preferred temperature range, and have a 186 mph speed rating.

For the fronts, I used a tire that was rated Traction A, Temperature A, Treadwear A on the sidewall. The radial T/A's have a much lower rating for those spec's.

Another issue with them is that the raised white letters yellowish(edit: brown) over time.

Radial T/A is S rated crap. My old BFG 275/60/15 Drags were good on 15x8 and had Comp TA fronts also 15s.
Wish they would make Comps again, they were real good all around tires.

Yeah, they seem to ask a premium for them, though I don't think they have the performance to back it up. Their biggest draw is more the looks and the fact that they make them in just about every size under the sun.

I only needed daily driver tires and went with some General Altimaxx when I replaced mine recently. I've been happy enough with them, but I haven't really tried to push them either.

BFG T/A's are all season tires, not performance tires. They have all the traction of a set of hockey pucks, and despite having an all-season rating they're lousy in the rain too.

I honestly think they gained their "performance" reputation because they were replacing factory bias ply tires, and it would be hard to have less performance than the factory bias ply's. But compared to a modern design radial tire, the BFG T/A's are flat out awful. Unless you want to make a tired 318 with 2.76 gears look like a muscle car by burning them off, because even a tired 318 with 2.76 gears can light up a set of BFG T/A's.

lately there have been more white lettering turning yellow complaints

I have Cooper Cobras on my Dart, I don't do much spirited driving but I have no problem loosing a hubcap in a tight corner (true story, getting on an interstate, tight 270 deg curve and my hub cap passed me) no squealing or understeer. Stock 50+ year front suspension (except for a ball joint or two)

They were fine when fresh and the mud isn't too deep.

Seriously Coopers almost guarenteed better on all surfaces. Maybe not by much, but enough to make it a no brainer.

Come on, remember when Gaterbacks were the rage?

If you're going to look at Avons then look at some of the other repro looking european brands too.

They supposedly have a performance "look", but I've never liked THAT, either. lol

I think you mean GAYtorbacks. Yeah. Those.

*crys a little bit*

Yeah, the BFG's are just horrible for traction. I put all Nitto's onto my Challenger and got much better traction. The treadwear is not the greatest, but there is a price to pay!

The funny thing is, all the Chevy guys just brag about how they can burn out BFG tires. LOL

I really like my MaxGrips so far. They ride great and seem to be wearing very well. ZERO discoloring of the white letters.

I used to have BFG 295's on my Barracuda and it would smoke them for as long as I kept on the gas. Not so much with the 295 Nitto drag radials now.

I think they are an iconic tire and look cool on muscle cars. That being said, they low performance tires. I had a pair on my Dart that were so hard, they wouldn't leave black marks on the pavement when doing a burnout. They would spin forever but when you looked back, nothin. The kids were real disappointed when I switched to drag radials and couldn't do a huge burnout anymore. Whenever I see them on a car at a show, I know the guy doesn't really drive his car hard.

Current BFG T/A tires are marketed directly at the crowd that bought them in the 1980's, and wants that look regardless of performance.
That's why Coker makes almost all of them.
There are different numbers for a small few that are still made by BFG, but evidence suggests they are being phased out.
For the money, they have never been the best price/performance value.

...but they sure do have "that look".
