Anybody running 17" Cobra Bullit rims on a Duster

-
Found some info on the '02-'07 16" wheels at www.jeepkj.com...
Info on Stock Wheels:

Bolt Pattern: 5x4.5" or 5-114mm
Backspace: 5.5" (might be a hair larger than this actually)
Offset is 41mm ( I know the chart says 38, but I found 41 from a tire vendor that said the factory wheels are 41 )
Wheel size is 16 x 7
Stock Tire Size ranges, but 235/70R16 is most common.

For the '08+ Libby's (KK chassis):
The OEM KK rims specs are 16x7 with 5.5" of BS.

Not knowing anything else about the larger OEM wheels, I'd wager the backspace is going to be very close. Since the Mustang wheels are 5.7, I'd bet the Liberty wheels will fit well. I also would bet a dollar that the center bore is exactly right for BBP Mopars. The center cap is likely too small, though.

themachine: what Backspace and size are they?

it will be awhile before i get a chance to look but i know they were off a 2005 mustang 20X9 i do have the 5 lug adapters on so that will make a difference if your looking for a pair. if i didnt have those on it wouldnt fit

jeff

Wait a minute!!!! Did you manage to get the typical adapters that are like an inch thick, maybe more, to work with those wheels and still tuck? Have you tried the fronts yet?
I was wondering if that would work, and figured it might for the rear but Im curious about the fronts with those adapters.
Hmmmmmm
Where did you get the adapters? Which ones? and what did they cost?
Also, we are talking about small bolt to BB pattern correct?

Man you lit a fire again, if this is possible with off the shelf adapters.
The adapters are typically so thick I was concerned that they would be too thick. Aside from that I wasn't ready to drop 25.00 per adapter if it wasn't going to work.
Please fill us in ASAP. I want those on my car BAD!!!
Thx man

Ok i gotta bring this post back up. I have a set of mustang FR500 wheels im trying to fit and I cant figure out how everyone is doing this. The bullets and cobra R wheels must be different. I turned the rotors down so that they are the correct hub size but the wheels can only slide on about 3/4 of an inch. What am i doing wrong? Please Help

Thanks
Nate

There's your answer... the wheel hub bore necks down to fit the tiny center cap. Not a big deal on the flat-bearing new cars, but not something that will work on the giant Mopar wheel bearing snout. I'm not sure you'd want to taper down the bearing snout, and punching out the wheel hub bore to the same ID all the way through might ruin the looks of the wheel. Realistically, there are probably a number of ways to put a decent looking hub in the middle of the wheel once it's been punched out, but none that I know of right off hand. I know there are some other folks who have used that type of wheel, so maybe they'll chime in. I chose the wheels I have (95 Cobra) just because they didn't have the hub bore issue. The penalty is they don't come in 9" sizes.

i only turned down the very end of the hub to fit the rim. we cut it at an agle so it is a perfect fit inside the rim and left as much material as possible. i used ftermarket bullets so they werent hubcentric anyway, they make them big to fit a lot of different cars.

Looks to me that if the Offset isnt quite right, that you may be able to run a spacer to fix the issue you have. Meaning, if you space it out, the the hus wont bottom out in the wheel, and the wheel would sit a little further to the outside of the car. Im sure you have thought of this, but that seems to be the easy answer based on the pics given.
Now if the offset is correct, then it appears that the only option you have is to machine the wheel center out. If you do that, obviously you will need some custom caps. However Im sure you wouldnt have ran the cobra caps anyway.
On another note... I love those rims! Those are bad ***.

If the hub bore in the wheel is like 73mm, then they're set up to use a 73mm hub ring to adapt the wheel to whatever bore you need. That's good news as hub rings are easy to get and cheap, whether you're fitting a Ford or Mopar.

The backspace could be an issue, but it might work in your favor. What is the BS on your wheels? I like the FR500's, too. They look like they'd be nice and light. Are these wheels pretty light, too?

I forgot to ask if anyone is running them with a big sway bar it looks like they will rub at full lock. Thanks for the help.

Nate

I am running 17x8 mustang bullitt wheels with 5.72 backspace on my 68 cuda...I do have an aftermarket hellwig sway bar, and at full lock, the rims interfere with the sway bar...SO what Im doing right now is, trying to find a 73 - Up style k frame where the sway bar passes through the k frame and mounts in the middle of the lower control arms...Obviously I need the 73 and up style lower control arms with the sway bar tabs in the middle...its been a pain in the *** for all the work ive done...i made a separate thread about all of it...but still havent been able to drive my car, it's not even aligned yet...i need that new style k member and lower control arms!!!

Oh yea, that one...that one is not too shabby! nice car man! looks like it handles well!! I cant wait to try out my barracuda....i need more parts!

That pic was with NO sway bars, just sub frame's ..

This thing is gonna GET WITH IT once it goes out again!! Folks, don't let anyone tell you different .. our torsion bars and leaf springs are awesome for both drag racing AND road racing!!! 8)

Thanks for your kind words, mopardude! You don't have as much room in that 2nd gen, b'cuda as we do, tho

Did you talk to Dave at Hellwig about your situation at Spring Fling?

They seem light but i didnt weigh them. They are for my dart but it has corvette hubs i redrilled to to 5x4.5 so they fit fine on that car. I want to get a set of cobra R wheels for my daily driver 73 Valiant just want to make sure there are no major issues. 5.94 backspacing here is a link to them.
