Why is it when you go to a car show there are a bunch of mustangs, camaros, and short box chevs with 10,000 paint jobs nice valve covers and every thing else is mediocer. Dont get me rong there are a lot of nice cars done right but man it gets old when people gawk and are saying things like "man thats a sweet ride" or "golly he put some money into her" when the car has like 250hp and handles like a shoping cart.

i agree, it does get old, but i live with it, cause for me, its a learning experience just being aorund guys like that

Yeah i feel ya man. I dont mean to bad mouth car shows i think i was a little frustrated when i wrote this. The advice and conections i go away with are amazing.

yea man, but i totally understand. Like seeing all the Mustangs, with $10,000 paint jobs, practically looking the same, it really gets boring to see though

Dont feel too bad.Where I live,I cant seem to go to a car show without seeing SUVs on 24 inch rims with spinners that have like 5 TV screens and 100 speakers, stupid little rice burners. There are some good shows in Colorado, but I have to drive really far.Even some of those I see them stupid SUVs.Rarely any good Mopar or muscle car shows only here. There was a Hot August Nights car show here last summer that was pretty cool, but thanks to idiots that dont know how to behave and stupid little gang bangers that feel they need to fight with people, the promoters said they will probably not have another one here again.Damn shame

Well nothing like a good all Mopar show. But...IMO I think there is a place at shows for all cars. The guy with the 10k paint job likely worked just as hard on his car as anyone else. This might just be the limit of his or her ability. Same with the guy with 24 inch rims. My two cents worth.

A lot of people don't even know what they are looking at most of the time. Those are ones that say "Man he spent a lot of money on that car" with their finger up their nose. It's all about details Chevy or Mopar..... if those small details are took care of any car will look like crap. The ones I dislike are the ones with a shiny paint job and a filthy engine bay. Maintenance people maintenance!

As an old shop teacher of mine once said:

"You can't argue with a fly about the taste of sh*t"

I agree, most of the time you see the same stuff. How many 69 Camaro's or late 60's Chevelle's can you look at?

I went to the *** Drive In, in Issaquah, Wa yesterday. There was only 3 Camaro's there, 69, 68, and a 2010. Some nice new Mustangs, a limited Edition 2010 Mach 1, and a Roush 427.

There was actually a nice mix of cars there, late 30's rods, some nice MoPar muscle, some untouched stock stuff too. Really nice bone stock 68 Mustang with a 200 straight 6 in it. Dont really get why you take a new car to a show though.

And why would you take your import to a muscle show? Wouldnt you feel real out of place? There were 4 imports parked up against the building accross from a row of Vipers, no one cared. Pictures in a bit.

Lat one I went to, the one's that cracked me up were the two bubba looking dudes standing next to their 4 door Nova with arms crossed as if they did not want anyone getting remotely near their pristine 4 DOOR nova.

I had to laugh to myself.

I appreciate people who are protective over theyre cars what ever they are, but the whole "badass" mentality I dont get.

Why come to a car show if you just want to be anti social and scare everyone off? I dont like that attitude from people with 7 figured cars anymore than I like it from people with 5 figure cars.

I also go to the shows to look at custom cars whatever they are. I'm sorry but i dont consider putting 5 tv's in your car custom or interesting...I dont consider lifting your car to fit some ungodly size wheel under your car as interesting either. expensive yes, but if i want to see just expensive i'll flip through the pages of GQ.

I feel for 1Bad Dodge71. Up here in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada we can go to about 100 or so car shows and car show related events. There are a lot of cruises and other car meets. We have The Manitoba Association of Auto Clubs, MAAC which puts out a magazine of all events. Can't go a weekend without something goin' on. Yeah there are some rice burners and suv's but mostly good old stuff, original, restored, restomod and custom. Great to be a car guy in the 'Peg.

there was a car show here back in the late '80s- a guy I knew from school entered his brand new Trash Am...errr I mean Trans Am.

He won 'best interior'.

As he's going up to get his award, someone yells out "you should give that award to GM!"

Sorry I don't agree or maybe I don't understand the complaints. My car has 180 hp. It was rusting on the side of the road so I invested in body work and a shiny paint job. Spent 1000's on mechanicals. No money left to paint the engine bay. Car is far from perfect but I'm doing the best I can. Get asked to put it in a car show...should I say no?

Seems like people have forgotten the enjoyment of spending a couple hours walking around and checking out cars they might not otherwise see....

the igniters put on a show in town every friday in the summer here, one member has a 64 fury with a 426 hemi black with a red gut, and one has a 64 savoy with a long ram 413, white with a black gut, a lot of nice rides. I think car shows should have a under construction spot so people can see whats being done.

X3 Plus the little out of town ones.

If were talking "park" shows or "drive in" shows... I dont care what people bring. If its just a "car show" its just that.. doesnt specify which kind, make, year, etc... now.... if its a 70's muscle car show... then bring cars appropriate. Etc.. Etc... or a Mopar show....bring mopars..

Either way.... Its just good to get out and see the work others have put into cars. I have learned lots from car shows.

I go and see what interests me. If it's a new car, yet another '32 Ford fiberglass body with a Chevy smallblock, or a ricer, I'll generally ignore it and keep walking. Not my tastes, so I'll keep moving on. Like last year's Carlisle. After walking for miles we come around to the finned-era area. Pop starts b****in' at me. "Here we've been lookin' at all this modern stuff ['60 and '70s] and here's the cars that really interest me!" :-D

I've had some pretty good conversations at car shows. Been able to network, meet new people, talk cars in general.

Just love this truck

Really why do most go to car shows, either to win a $15 trophy, or HELP A CHARITY

I posted the show from last Saturday that had 162 registered cars, trucks and motorcycles, had you come yes you would have seen some mustangs, camaros, junk and some Mighty fine Darts, Barracudas, Dusters, REAL 68 Hemi Roadrunner, TA Challenger, Challenger Convertible, 68 Charger RT and lots of very nice brand X cars

The money raised went to JDRF, Come to our next show in June and you will see some NICE CARS, including some brand X ponies, chevelles and odd stuff along with some very nice MOPARS

I dont go to cars shows for people to look at my car anymore I go cause I like to look at everyone elses. I have learned to ignore the silly stuff and pick my shows or cruises carefully. I still love just driving my car around other cars like it or similar to it, parking lots were where races were set up when I was younger
