I just put a 8 1/4 in place of the origional 7 1/4 in my 64 Dart GT I put in a 1979 8 1/4 out of a volarie service vehicle (cop car, taxi) and it to is a 2.45 posi unit behind a 226 slant 6 with a 904 14" tires, bigger bolt pattern, I did get shafted by the machine shop who shortened my drive...

have to say black them out if you do anything, spray can chrome is not the way to go, color matching is to Chevy for me or leave um stock retro rat is cool in its own way.....I have a 64 GT that I am putting back together for next summer the chrome has actually wore thru in spots gotta go with...

I have a 1983 dodge ram 4 x 4 with a 360 and a 904 automatic my tranny is slipping and I found a good 904 2wd and I honestly haven't messed with one in so long I can't remember if they interchange or of the tailshafts are different. Help!:roll:

project car for sale I have had this car since 1984 and done many things to it, the being stipping it down to restore it and thats where I stopped. Its a GT convertible 273 V8 Auto car.The engine is long since passed but I still have the transmission, exhaust manifolds radiator and driveshaft...

it should be a real easy swap , if you have lots of parts then just go for it! pull the /6 and set the v8 in to see what you have, and go from there i think the /6 and v8 tranny's have different bell housings set them side by side when you pull out the 6...good luck and you'll probably get the...

done that many times myself, your doing a great job!, time consuming isn't it? but you sure feel good when your done for the day! good luck, what color is it going to be? and are you doing the paint as well?:thumblef:

first I agree to keep it away from the idiot that tried to fix it. a good mechanic won't cut corners, do it once and do it right..! next if you cut a seal in half, it's gonna leak....! putting in a new quality seal will probably fix it along with a pan gasket, the other side is the rear crank...
