Got a 66 dart, do torsion bars from any other models/years fit? Sometimes I see TBs listed by length rather than specific model or year. What length is an early Abody TB? Is the hex head always the same? I can't crawl under my car...its still snowburied, but I'd like to start shopping...

I'm building an Abody 8 3/4 from parts. I opted not to shorten something down or swap another axle type because this is my first axle so I want to keep it simple. Next time out I'll shorten if need be. Like its been said a complete assembly is around a grand and then you'd probably tear it...

Update. I got big bolt A body axles from doctordiff who confirmed they will work with the 11x2 inch drum setups I found cheap. I have to say sometimes 'cheap' is a deciding factor when you consider how very many upgrades/parts are needed for the whole project. Front discs are on the to do list...

Haven't purchased axles yet. What is the difference re drums? I found a disc conversion for around the same money as a drum setup. Any probs with discs and whether its a stock/aftermarket axle? Mixing parts is new territory for me. I don't think I need stronger than stock axles but would...

For me maybe it boils down to which bolt pattern. Eventually I'd want a set of salt flats wheels which I haven't found in the 4 inch pattern. To get the 4.5" there's much more involved. Its like how much do I want to spend first so I can spend a grand on wheels later? How much do I really want...
