Possibly the ugliest Barracuda I have ever draged home, But it is so cool!

Dear god that's the most ugliest color I've ever seen but an unique patina. Neat.

I wonder why they added the PCV fitting on the top when they had the factory one on the side......strange.

Sweet Find!! Yup i would try to make it run before you pull it to swap out the freeze plugs. Atleast you will find if it needs a further tear down required..

I'm thinking they wanted that hose terminated inside the air filter to pass the smog test.

I have it running off a gas can but the fuel tank and pick up was one of the nastiest I have ever dealt with. Its currently getting hot tanked. After that I need to get the brakes all rebuilt and working. Then it should be ready for a shake down drive around the block.

Just got the call the tank is junk. There is about 5 different tank sellers on ebay who has the best most original style? Any recommendations or tanks to stay away from?

Also wanted to thank you guys for all the comments. My wife is a good sport, actually a really good sport. However sometimes it's just nice to have car guys around to share my excitment over the old A bodies I bring home.

How about a nice clean original tank to match the car? Then put a new sending unit in it.

That is an option. I have an extra tank but I'm pretty sure in was nearly as bad as the one I removed so I was just thinking new to speed things along. Is there any issues with shipping a used tank? New would probably be better but I'm to offers of nice clean used tanks.

I think I'd get one of the ones made in North America. I think they're all made at the same factory.......they use the same part numbers anyway.....CR11A if memory serves me. After that, shop by price. I think you're right about the air cleaner fitting. There were several different smog kits in the '70's and some had those fittings in the kit. At least they didn't get the kit were you had to drill a hole into the intake manifold to install a pipe for a smog valve! Those were the worst piece of junk and ruined (visually) a perfectly good looking engine.

If you don't mind, could you post a photo of the front pillar trim piece for the vinyl top? I'm trying to find out what they look like and where they go. I'd like to put a vinyl top on my '65 Valiant.

A lot of FABO members including me have purchased tanks from Vans, they are the quality ones made in Canada, fast shipping and reasonabe price, and no more worries for a long time.

Just happened to have ordered and received one of their tanks. Like you said nice tank fit and finish was like original.

I bought a Spectra tank from Canada and was happy with the quality. looks just like the tank I pulled out, just not rusty and junk.

I dont know what ot add other than wicked cool, neat car, and I wish I had the trim for my 65. I love vinyl tops. I honestly didn't think they were offered on these. I've never seen one.

Seems like a crazy color and I have never liked vinyl tops much less the partial vinyl tops. But I'm commited to keeping this baby original and driving it. Probably just get it running and drive it. Can't stand the ideal of taking it apart for a restoration that I would never be able to afford. So just get it running good is the plan. maybe start restoring the interior first if it runs.

That car will be gorgeous when you are done with it. I thought those half vinyl tops on the 66s was cool. Nice find, very nice find.

Thanks, no matter what I think of the cars I drag home they always grow on me. This one is no different. I'm already starting to like the vinyl top. I guess just because you don't see many around.

The fuel system is good now just waiting on some brake parts to get this car on the road. It's still leaking water, I haven't verified it but I suspect freeze plugs. So once I road test this car might have to pull the motor and change freeze plugs, seals and some general clean up.

Wow what a rare find that is one nice car to restore with such a great body and all the rare options. You did very well. Many have put lots of time and money into body work and yours needs very little. I also would be proud to own a car like that. Good luck and take your time with the restoration a little at a time and a couple years and its ready to cruise.

That thing aint ugly, this is...

I'd love to see that paint after a good proper clean up, polish and wax. One of the colors I don't think I've ever seen on a Barracuda in person.
