I saw that ad in the first seconds it was posted so someone else could have also and sent a pm to buy it. Not saying that is what happened but it is possible.

Same old BS, This guy list a mini starter at 8:38 PM I respond at 8:40 PM. I asked if it could be mailed in a Large Flat rate box. NO ANSWER, now it is marked SOLD? Oh well I won't and will never treat another member like this. Another blocked member!

I've sold a few things already on FABO. Sometimes I get a response almost immediately. I always deal with the first person to respond unless they're dragging their heels.

- And I have also had some of my responses to other's ads seem to go ignored. I guess it's hard to know why. Maybe someone did beat you to it.

I saw that ad you're talking about right after it was posted also. I was interested in it but didn't respond to him because I figured you'd beat me to it when you replied to him.

Guy was asking about 340 hp manifolds on one of the threads,I wrote that I had a set and gave a price someone else was watching and it couldn't have been a minute later they were sold.right time-right place that's just the breaks of the game.Dont let it bother you,you could have bought something that someone else got pissed at.

1..........It's not the end of the world

2..........There are no guarantees in life

3...........These are not some rare, hard to find part, you can get them at any local parts store

4...........Much as you'd like to have a "captive audience," even on EFray, people often list "stuff" locally or on multiple sites.

here is my take-- you asked a question(shipping)-- to the seller that is not I'll take them,, if it is a hot item & good price you need to be aggressive in your response --such as I'll take them if the shipping is normal rates.(some people really $$ for shipping) or tell the seller if shipping is less than x Amount I can pay right now .

just my thoughts ,Lawrence

I agree. When I buy stuff, I don't post on the thread; I just a PM. Maybe someone sent him a PM.

I've got to admit that I'd probably take a pm that says 'I'll take them' more seriously than a thread response that's asking a question about shipping. - Maybe that's why I've lost out on a few items myself.

sold in under 2 minutes. highly unlikely

If you really wanted the starter, the correct response to the ad should have been "I'll take it. Please send a final price with shipping included to zip code 12345.

If the shipping price seems outrageous, you can always back out of the sale. Also shipping expenses are very easy to verify on line.

I bought a new one on ebay for 75 shipped and I love I didnt see his add but for 75 no use crying about it.

By the time he looked up the measurements of a flat rate box then measured his parts which is a starter and not symmetrical he probably got a "ill take it, let me know what the total is" maybe the guy even contacted him after you. I can tell you I'm not a fan of someone saying can it fit in a so and so box, usually the usps boxes are more expensive than sticking it in your own box, so right there your usually not doing yourself any favors. If i have two people minutes apart interested in the part the one that says "i'll take it get me a total" will get it not the guy asking.. will it, can you, how bout flat rate. etc..

I've bought parts from him before he was a straight up guy, no b.s. It was a pretty good deal he was offfering I would not be suprised if someone else got in there faster or at the same time as you.

i pm'd him right after the first post, told him i'd take it and i didn't get it either.wonder who got it?

I posted a horn button a couple weeks ago! I hit "post new thread", then "new posts" and got a PM window before the new posts even loaded, that quick! I messaged him back immedietly with a total including shipping, there were 3 more PM's saying "ill take it"! Went to the thread to put a "sale pending" alert to all who PM'd, another 3 "ill take it" PM's!! Elapsed time for everything...3 minutes!!! All told, 7 people in 3 minutes and not a single "PM Sent" post in the thread!

I got the starter, so you can hate me if you want, but I messaged immediately and simply said "if its still for sale, ill take it". With everybody following the rules and not posting in the threads, its hard to tell if anybody is ahead of you or not, that's why I now say "if its still for sale, ill take it"! I must've been first, as I have dealt with Scotty before and he is a very upstanding member! If someone was first I would have understood that and probably wouldn't have gotten a message from him, as I'm sure he had a least 1/2 dozen people message him! Should he respond to every single member and state where they are in line when he has a sale already?? Don't hold it against him, he is not to blame for anything but selling an item at a good price and generating a lot of interest!!

I think we all have a good idea on what shipping costs are on certain weight items.Gotta be quick on the draw here lately, cause we have a lot of certain lurkers in the waiting...that will pull the trigger right of way on a good deal.It happens a lot.

Well i guess I'm alone on how I deal with ads. I ask shipping because I have gotten some really wild shipping cost on items from here and other sites. But I would thing if I'm asking shipping cost the seller should no I'm interested? I mean really my life has gotten so boring that I'm asking for a shipping cost just to waste my time and yours. But it is what it is. I'm not suicidal cause I didn't get the starter.
Rest assured when I sell items on here and you ask me for a shipping price first, I won't sell to another till I reply to you.

No I have an idea what it should cost. But what the seller "justifys" is another thing. It's not losing out on a purchase that bothers me as much as a sense of fairness. But I think my values at age 58 differ from the younger crowd.
Enough said on the subject. Just wanted a feel for what you, the other members thought.

lol thats nothing, I missed out on this steel of a car that was only located 40 minutes from all cause he didn't put a price/location in his ad originally. I was literally the 2nd person to view it, peaked my interested and asked for the missing info. Of course someone else saw the info he post (an hour after I commented) a couple minutes before me and it was sold. Now if he had the price/location originally like your supposed to it'd be in my garage right now :wack: Guess I learned my lesson just to PM people instead of commenting on their threads. :mumum:

Roy I tend to agree with your line of thinking. You didn't ask questions for nuthin.

sold in under 2 minutes. highly unlikely

I have often bought items minutes after the initial post..

"PM Sent" is self expanatory,, I can't recall ever seeing "Will send PM" or " Am going to send PM"..

I post "PM Sent" as a courtesy to whoever else is interested.

I haven't seen and can't understand the new "rule".. it just seems to annoy people and is discourteous..
