Have you guys read "How to Build Big-Inch Mopar Small-Blocks" by Jim Szilagyi? Is it any good? Are there any other decent books out there geared towards building small block strokers?

I would like to meet Jim. He was a HP engineer for Mopar.

Like what?

I'll get it out and look through it. I'm sure he's a big lover of the idiotic cross over tube which does nothing. Let me go get it and I'll look through it.

I actually bought it because someone here on FABO said it was worth it.

I only see the cross over tube good for Hyd. Roller cams with the other oil feed hole locked off.

I have the book. It's good for what it is. It has the typical oiling system mistakes in it.

How about you make a sticky of your oiling mods. The more we know, the better we can be. Knowledge is power.

With clear non glossy photos with pencil pointing, highlighted points of exacting excellence of detailed explanation of what needs to be done and how it’s done.

I've posted I don't know how many posts about what's wrong with the oiling system and how to fix it.

How much more time do you want me to waste on it? The cross over tube (which will not fix ****) is in virtually every book I have. How do you undo that kind of stupid?

I could also point out how Chrysler, for decades, fucked everyone who ran W2-5 heads and had adjuster smoking issues. Do you know why? I do. Somewhere in all the paper work I've kept (and I've thrown out a bunch of it and will probably throw out some more when I reorganize the library) a copy of an engineered drawing I paid for, and a 5 page letter outlining why guys are smoking pushrods with that junk. Chrysler, sent out a chicken **** letter, and then called me on the phone to tell me their engineering is spot on.

So...I ordered new shafts. BFN shafts. Took a video of opening the box, and laying the new shafts next to the old shafts. And guess what...the oil timing on the shafts was STILL wrong.

Maybe I should, wrote a book. Would you buy it? I doubt it. Most people don't like their sacred cows sacrificed by truth.

You can find at least two threads where I explain it over in the small block forum. Even typing this out is redundant.

So I took a little time and reread most of the book.

It is a basic book with part numbers and suggestions in it. There isn't much explantion to it. The best thing it has going for it is a bunch of discontinued part numbers that will never be made available again. This is because the retarded brain trust running the show now is going to force you to use a gen III Hemi or just quit, or better yet, move to GM architecture.

He touches on the cross over tube, but doesn't explain why it does or doesn't work (again, it doesn't work).

Pretty basic book. If you want an engine book, you're better off buy the Reher-Morrison books than that. Unless you want the part numbers of crap Chrysler won't ever make again.

Seeing how it's no good, I'll buy the book off you.

Yes the crossover works. It has been proven many times. Then you get a wantna be that can't understand it posting against it. Best way to handle them is to put them on ignore.

I've asked you to explain it to me, but you can't. You just say it works because you read it in a book.

Prove how it works.

Damn. Some people just can't learn.

Here is an oil mod that is a must . This is what we found on several SB's. If you stud your heads you shut off the oil flow. We mill the studs and index them. This recreates a passage for the oil to the rockers that the stud closes off tighter then the bolts that are tapered for this purpose. Why use sprayers in the covers. They only cover the rocker with oil that seaps into the friction surface. Oiling them with pressure is much better. My son has several other things he does in the block and oil pump. That will cost ya. LOL

Never have I ever done that. You just groove the cam so they get full time oil.

Never have I had an issue with oil up top be use of studs. Even if you don't groove the cam.

Compare the diameter of the stud verses the factory bolt. You'll see what I am talking about. Once the stud goes through the head it restricts oil flow a lot. $1800 for T&D rockers why starve them for oil. All SB we stud get the grove in the stud. You can physically see the flow difference before and after while at RPM's above idle. 8 yrs of 8500 rpms and has been up as high as 9300 on the recall. After tear down the motor showed no wear from lack of oil. I would say his mods work. He Just finished another one and this guy is hard on motors. we'll see how long it lasts.
