Trick Flow small block heads

That would be me. You're probably correct. I don't have the knowledge or the time to do port work.
And that’s exactly why these heads will sell and sell well at these insane prices.
 
I am just posting this from the IMM Facebook page. I thought it would be a good reference on 67dodgedartconv's engine. Just another piece of the puzzle
From IMM:
Cranking psi is 175-177 across the board. Cam is custom, but I will say it's only 239@ .050 on the intake side, and only has .584 lift gross. It's hyd. roller. Good luck with your build, the TF heads are definitely producing great results so far!

.506HP @ 5800rpm, and 506TQ @ 4300rpm on that particular pull...thought we might get a little more from the 950HP carb, but not much. With a box stock 750QF carb, it made 503HP and 499TQ.

What kind of track times are you getting now with the Eddies? What kind of gains are you expecting?..
 
No track is local to me so only had very few passes on the car. Unfortunately the only time I've gotten out, the car was having valvetrain issues and wouldn't RPM clean past 5800rpm..the car has been 11.64 N/A @3800ft.. with a hydraulic flat tappet.

Decided to redo the valve train and ditch the current cheap rockers I have now...and finally upgrade the camshaft...since everything is apart I'm also considering the trick flow heads.

I hope to get mine to the track next weekend to see what the new heads will do. I've had to add a rollbar and put bigger wheels and tires on since then and it scaled 65lbs heavier now. We shall see.

Depending on who did your eddies and how they flow, you might not see any gains. Id carefully consider this one.

I'm with the advice of Extreme Caution...
You will probably be able to sell the Eddie's no problem (a vacuum I'm enthused about for us poor people). But you'll take a loss and never know what you really had because it never was optimized... I would say you have everything you need now to possibly get it to RPM correctly and see what the current set up you have will do? That will give a season for people to come back and say they either crush there old Eddy heads or maybe it wasn't all the bang for the buck they thought it was going to be...
Won't cost you a dime to wait and see...
Maybe while you have it apart widen the ring gaps for more nitrous.. lol...

You are sort of in a catch 22 situation here. You don't know the flow numbers, so you don't know what you have, and you can't tell someone who is interested in buying them either. I would be hard pressed to buy a set of ported heads unless I personally knew the porter, or they were someone from a known shop. As for myself, I'm going with the TFS heads since I don't have anything, and by the time someone ports, or ships some of the alternative options, they actually cost more. My application is different though, as mine is a hot street effort, and altimate horsepower is not as important.
 
If your eddies have a 2.02 valve and the pushrod in the stock location, then the TFS will outperform. TFS is pretty honest about their headflow numbers and more than that they work really well in a real world situation. My buddy has the entire TFS top end on his 400” cleveland ford. They claim 620 flywheel hp on the ford. His car makes 550 to the tire and runs mid tens in a 3500 pound car. So they definitely have my respect.

I think from all the speculation and the minimal amount of confirmation that you're correct would seem a no-brainer that these will out flow most any other aluminum head. The question seems to become how much more is needed than you already have. How much more do you want? For a lot it will be how much bang for the buck.... Personally I think for anything that see's a lot of Street time it's a bit of Overkill... Again I'm excited about the vacuum this is starting to create for the budget oriented people.... I'm already seeing ported very worked over great condition very low mileage Factory heads going for $400 and not selling...

Im with you but the goal here is ET for him and if he sells the eddies then maybe he will be in the TFS for 1500. Not too bad and he will get a bump in compression. When you are building a serious street strip motor there is no such thing as overkill. Especially when its a race gas motor to begin with.

I think we're both in agreeance but I'm just not on the pull the trigger right now side of the tracks. I'm more see what you get this year and see what everybody else is getting with the trick flow this year. I believe one good summer of people having these on will tell the story a lot clearer. "IF" he could (and I hope he would if he did) get $1, 500 for his old heads let's not forget how much he actually has into them now. I mean the loss he will take on the heads added to the new heads... Also at the price of never finding out the potential of what he had... Just food for thought...
 
did anyone make 550 plus hp with the T.F. heads yet ? I have heard of high 400's . its fairly easy to get 530 -540 with the rpm's

I definitely hear you there. I'm asking friends if they know anyone locally that has a flow bench that can see what these Eddies are doing. Living in Calgary there's not too many people doing this stuff.

I do not mean to criticize, but my thoughts for your situation is to consider what some others on this forum have been able to achieve with the eddies. Tony Santos has regular mid to high 10s, Pittsburgh racer has achieved high 9,s with the Edelbrock head. Seems to me you are nowhere near maxing out the performance of the heads you have because other system on your car are not ideal yet.
I would go over what you have and see if other parts of your combo need to be addressed first. $3,000 is a lot of coin to spend only to get a marginal improvement if any. But I have no first hand experience, and this is just mho.

I have not seen a dyno number that high yet, but FABO member nwdart has some time slips that put it solidly close depending on the calculator used. I know he has gone 9.80 at 132 mph at the track with a car that weighs 2990. That was a couple of months ago, so I don't know if he has done better since then. Maybe he can chime in @nwdart

Yah but how much money did they have into their Eddy's and who did it. I can assure you that the guy who did mine was nowhere near their skill level....I'm not 100 percent sure but I'd think that guys running 9s with eddy heads have probally gone as far as to have the pushrods relocated and using offset rockers.
I looked at what Hughes big mouth CNC costs, to get yah in or near the 300cfm mark and it gets pretty damn expensive..especially after shipping the heads from canada, to them and being shipped back. Not to mention the costs of using their rocker set up.
