Valiant63
Early A-body Valiants
My brother has a 65 Dart Gt with a 273 2 bbl. Rusty body, but ran great.
My 66 Dart 273has front disk brakesNot all 273-4's came with disk brakes as that was a mid year option, but I bet they came with 10's...
Yes I saw the info.Great info.Someone said they had a 273 HiPo with 3 on the tree ,Our friend had a Valiant (Canada) with 3 on the tree and it was crazy fast.@Alaskan_TA , do you have this information on post 14? Nice stuff.
Yes, at least in 1965 all engine options could have any transmission. But the rarest is a 273x4bbl with three on the tree.Yes I saw the info.Great info.Someone said they had a 273 HiPo with 3 on the tree ,Our friend had a Valiant (Canada) with 3 on the tree and it was crazy fast.

My first car was a HP273/3 on the tree 65 270 2 door sedan Dart.Yes I saw the info.Great info.Someone said they had a 273 HiPo with 3 on the tree ,Our friend had a Valiant (Canada) with 3 on the tree and it was crazy fast.
We could never figure out why this car was so fast. Some one said it had a D Dart drive train possiblyMy first car was a HP273/3 on the tree 65 270 2 door sedan Dart.
Well, the D Dart didn't happen until 1966. My 65 would boil that one rear tire for a city block. It felt fast to a 16 year old.We could never figure out why this car was so fast. Some one said it had a D Dart drive train possibly
I actually think it was March 1966!Well, the D Dart didn't happen until 1966. My 65 would boil that one rear tire for a city block. It felt fast to a 16 year old.
The rallye pack cars came with 9 inch brakes and 13 inch wheels- most with out sway bar or tach- pretty much a standard Barracuda with CommandoIt depends on the order. I have a 65 Commando Barracuda and the build sheet from the car shows the 9 inch brakes to be factory. However it is power brakes factory. lol
My fault, I was referring to '65 models only.My 66 Dart 273has front disk brakes
I bet it was a Charger Dart.Bought a 65 Dart Gt when I was stationed at Dyess Air Force base in Abilene, Texas in 1966. It was used but I really like the looks. Was painted canary yellow with a black vinyl landau roof, Cragar mags, black interior (bucket seats), 4-speed transmission, and a Charger 273. Great little car, remember going against a '65 GTO with a 389 and won our little race!!
Soon after I bought it I was at Mack Eplen's Drivateria ( like a Sonic ) eating a hamburger in the car when a black Dodge Monaco pulled in next to me. Man rolled down his window and asked me how I liked the Dart. Told him that I really liked it . He said that was good and that he had owned the car but had to trade it in because it was to small for him. (He was a rather big man.) Bought himself a Monaco and was pleased with it. We chatted for a while, but before he left he told me that expected me to take GOOD care of the Dart. Said that he would be on the look out for me to be sure that I did. Told him that I would take care of it.
Every once and a while he would pull up beside me and give me a thumbs up. Needless to say I kept it washed and waxed!!
Took my girlfriend on many dates ( wound up marrying her) in that car and a lot of trips to Albuquerque, Houston, and Del Rio. Lot of fun driving that Dart, lot of good memories.
Do not have that canary yellow Dart now, wish I did, but I do have a aqua blue '65 Dart GT with a white top, white bucket seats, automatic transmission (miss the 4-speed ), Cragar mags, and a Charger 273.
Like others I do not want anything else!! Hope you are enjoying yours too.

There is no breakdown of options on these early cars. Just basically model, engine, and transmission.Just curious how rare my car is 1966 Dodge Dart Gt 273 HiPo with factory A/C automatic on the column with bucket seats .no P/S no P/B .but front disk brakes .Arizona car .
True- I went to my files and confirmed the Rallye Pack suspension cars had the heavy duty springs and sway bar and heavy duty shocks to go with the Commando 273. I owned an all original 65 with Commando-bought from original owner= a/c, p/s, p/b and no sway bar and 13" wheels. Probably the Commando was a stand alone option available separately like on the Valiants, as were tach, stripes, etc
I believe that is a 604 code on the build sheet.Does anyone have a 1965 model with factory disc brakes? I've never seen a window sticker or broadcast sheet with that option listed. My understanding is that it was a dealer installed option that model year. I have one of the earliest '66 Barracudas (Aug 17th 1965), and it has factory disc brakes.
Ok, but, have you ever seen a real one?I believe that is a 604 code on the build sheet.
No I haven't. I wonder if Ulf has. I bet so.Ok, but, have you ever seen a real one?
