Moparts

Don’t

you own 68hemib’s Challenger vert? Or was it a Cuda, can’t remember

Steve sold his vert to Carl, the president of the San Joaquin Mopar club...
I've got the Sublime vert... And a 68 Coronet vert..

I've owned A, B, E and trucks. So am I a semi-snob? Just a snob when diving my B and E bodies but cool when in my A body? How does this work? :poke::lol:
Not only A bodies but even small block and 6 owners were treated as 2nd rate. I got sick of seeing 383-440 and 426 comparisons and builds and B and E specific traffic that had nothing to do with my tastes or interests. I bailed out when I discovered FABO many moons ago, 80% of the content here has relevance to my interests so that's why I'm parked here, not there. I saw a 340 Roadrunner build thread and the car was super nice, it had very little interest while a ratty 383 build was garnering many more comments. Just my observations.

Yup... That's Mister Snob to you.... Sorry, I own a B body and an E body... If that makes someone have an inferiority complex It's their problem not mine.... I welcome folks to join me in my enjoyment of the hobby whether they own a B/E/A/C or a Ford/GM/or even a foreign vehicle..

It was their superiority complex that puzzled me. I got the "B/E or nothing" vibe way too often there.

I think the tech is much better over at Moparts.
You can search for anything Mopar related and someone has done it and told the story.

This thread piqued my interest. FABO has 2915 pages of members at 20 members/page that's over 58,000 members. At Moparts they have 540 pages at 50 members/page or over 27,000 members. I find that interesting. I've been a member of Moparts for over 20 years and it has changed. I don't know if the oldsters are getting tired of answering questions about point gaps, or the youngsters want instant answers from someone else because they are too lazy to do any work themselves, or everybody talks and nobody listens.......I don't know. But speaking for me, I am contributing less on any board as time goes by because I am tired of the dance where someone asks for an opinion, you give them what you think is an honest opinion, and then they come back and tell you you are full of it. Or if I have a question and someone starts ridiculing me with comments like "Ever heard of Google?" Then there are those who ask a question like "I don't want to paint the engine compartment body color. What do you think?" Huh? Maybe it's just that everyone is becoming less tolerant but I am getting to the point that I just tired of putting up with all the horseshit.

And BTW, get off my lawn.

It's always seemed odd that some posts get traffic & others never seem to take off... That may happen more to A bodies & small blocks but it happens to B & E bodies too... Certain posters always seem have their followers, other posters no matter how interesting their question they rarely generate responses...

those numbers mean nothing. how many are actually active? there were a ton of guys that joined here years ago just to look at the laysons search warrant when they got busted at carlisle. quite a few joined to see that and never came back. i was looking at moparts member list years ago and there were pages and pages or members with zero posts.. i'm sure its the same here too.. they won't purge them people either because the numbers sell to sponsors better

Thanks for that. I own two foreign vehicles, with Chevy motors, and Ford rearends..... and six mopars.

This is just what I mean. "Those numbers mean nothing." Of course they do, it means that FABO has more than twice the registered members than Moparts. Now does this mean they are all active, eg. posters, on both forums? Obviously not. I can say that about a third of the registered members on Moparts have never posted. But does that mean they "mean nothing"? The numbers are facts and facts always mean something.

I've dealt with a lot of E body owners and yes there is definitely an "E body attitude". Not saying all E body owners are that way but a lot are. My good friend has 5 of them. That is all he'll own. Never an A or B. He is a really great guy but one day I had to tell him not to have an E body owner attitude. Said he might as well be a Vette owner. That got his panties in a wad. He hates Vettes. I've also dealt with a lot of Vette owners.
Me, I just like cars. All kinds and makes.

That was my impression as well.
Here at FABO I sort of expect questions about originality to generate less interest.
But on moparts, especially in the restoration subforum, I couldn't figure out why some posts become good threads and others generated little to no response. I didn't know if it was something about the poster, or just an odd fascination with certain details. Why was there little response to questions about original wiper blades, or '66-7 wiper motors - parts that are very visible, and yet great long threads about inspection marks, and bolt heads, and other details - which while great to document - will never be seen and rarely noticed by most people. It did seem odd.

The San Diego mopar club was special in that way too. Just pompous knuckleheads when I spoke with a few. What car do you have? Oh a 70 Swinger 340 4 speed, never mind we have a 74 cuda to go look at... GTFO. LOL Maybe it's different now, who knows.

Moparts knowledge base has been run off from people generally being assholes to others. Are there some sharp people there, yes. Fewer than 10 years ago, absolutely. The ads don't help but jeez, run an ad-blocker and you don't see that stuff.

I received a message from on of the moderators telling me I was banned about 10 years ago. I didn't post much there, I read a lot of the tech posts on building SBM strokers. I never found out why i was banned, so I just never went back.

I'm still a member on Moparts, and go there 3 or 4 times a week. It's not what it used to be, but there's still a lot to learn there, just like there is here. One of the best tech threads that I ever saw there was when @1WildRT did a how to on putting a 518 in a B or E body without hacking up the floor pan. The unmoderated forum is a train wreck because you see a side of people that you never see when you're just talking cars. I wish I'd never looked in it, and that's why I won't go to the N&P thing here.
The one thing that is consistent on Moparts though, is that Doc Fiberglass is like the Terminator. Moparts has killed him off a dozen times, and he just keeps coming back!

Thanks all, I check A ,B, and moparts as well as others nightly out of habit iooking for something I might need as well as certain build info. I don't post often unless something catches my eye or a question of interest. But my question is still, is moparts "gone now"?

Moparts is still up and going. I was on earlier.

It’s still up and running but trying hard to chase away tech posts. I and many others refuse to resize pictures just to post them up on that site. Usually if a picture of mine is the right size it posts up sideways. Ad block does work great but many don’t know how to upload it for some reason. I have a hard time keeping my mouth trap closed at times. Especially when I see a guy spending 10’s of thousands of dollars to run a certain time for years that should be very reachable but refuses to change his ways of doing things and just throws more money at it. I’ll still stop in as I know many of the guys and like someone says sometimes a good discussion breaks out. Doc is limited to the unmoderated section for now so that helps some.

I go there and here daily, sometimes multiple times a day. I've seen more negative comments towards members here than over at Moparts, probably due to moderation level. Just watch any suspension thread here...

I seriously LOL..

BTW Thanks for the mention... Lotta folks made good use of that thread.... Some even made money at it...

doc fiberglass USED to make some of the BEST fiberglass in the country. bough lots of stuff from him for our cars. fiberglass resin fumes must have gotten to him before he left up north. it amazes me that over there a guy can ask for help, get some smart *** answers and then there are 25 responses about a frickin dodge truck windshield gasket. un frickin real.

My first car when I turned 16 in 1971was a 68 Charger R/T. Over the next few years, I owned a 72 Demon, a 70 Charger R/T, and in 74, I bought a new loaded 74 Challenger. The Chargers were solid cars as was the Demon. But I always said my Challenger should have had R/T emblems standing for Rattle Trap. E-bodies look good and I'm sure they could be turned into great cars but I never wanted another one.
