Our Sonic is getting closer to open. The construction crew has been working
behind plastic sheeting during the cold Iowa winter days. They have the canopy up and the outside of the building is really taking shape. I can't wait to cruise up in my Dart on a Saturday night and order a burger and a Coke.
Do they welcome cruise in's? I should start organizing one now. How's the food? Looks good on the commercials (of course). Their website is pretty cool also. I'm thinking of getting my 16 year old a Sonic card so he won't have to bug me for money to go out to eat with his friends. Let me know!! PS. I remember back in the early 60's going to A&W in Marshalltown for a frosty root beer and a coney dog. (Convertrible have you been there?) LOL toolmanmike

Food is good but I dont eat there alot. The one close to my house has 2 car cruises a year. It a great place for one and alot of people allways show for it.

We have some Sonics here in our town.... Eat there pretty often.. Just real easy with kids and all.... Food is in line with any other fast food.... As far as cool cars at ours ???? Not happening .. The only thing in this town is soccer moms with Chevy suv's.....

I will add that their selection is better than other fast food joints. ( Coke Floats, flavored colas , etc.... )

There are a couple in the metro area I live that I know have cruises, they are not that close to me. There is a town called Golden that has a Super Cruise and there is a Sonic along the route that is very busy during it (http://www.goldensupercruise.com). I am sure there are probably more that I do not know about. The closest one to me is an odd design and I don't think would work good for a cruise.

Funny you mention that soccer mom thing. I know one that just loves my Dart. She has a mid 80's Camaro and wants something like mine. The Camaro isn't cool I guess. It looks like something her teenager drives. LOL

I stopped at Sonic only once. My burger included a fairly large piece of plastic bag inside it. No extra charge LOL
Manager determined it was part of the bag the buns were in. I din't go back for the makeup burger he offered. I'll never eat there again. Too many other places to choose from.

I will also add that their ice is good and they sell it in 10 lb. bags.... LoL .....

Good food. Talk to the boss man and i'm more than certain that he will invite a cruise in for the grand opening. I ALWAYS cruise around Sonic in my Mopars every time i'm out just to tease the kids. Good cruise spot for us 57 yr old kids. When i circle the back there is a wet spot where the A/C condensate drains so when i pull around back i light em up for the kids. I use to do that at Wal Mart at their aux. fire water tank as they had a leak but they fixed it. Good Sonic burgers w/cheese and jalapenos. Enjoy it. Good place to show off your cars.

One more thing.... They were updating all the ones in my town a couple of years ago and they were selling all the outside tables and stuff so I bought one of the tables for $100 .... It is very heavy and very durable and it has yet to be blown in my swimming pool... So I am very happy... This has nothing to do with anything you asked but I am bored....

Sonic is ok, I don't eat there too often though for some reason. The best thing they have going is the "happy hour" on drinks. You can get any drink on the menu, even the slushes, for 1/2 price. I usually get a 44oz slush for a buck something. I believe it is from 2-4pm every day.

We've had Sonic's around here for over 20 years. The food is considered gross and low end by most of my friends. Their cherry limeades are pretty good, and I'll have a coconut creme pie shake every once in a while. But my family refuses to eat there.

No cruises either. The local burger drive-in, Johnny Ray's, has an old fashioned cruise in once a month in the summer.

Sonic is awesome, I at least like it more than McDonalds or Wendys...too bad there are none in CT. Even though there are always commercials for them.

Without driving 30 miles, our Fast food/franchise choices here are Sonic, McD's. Pizza Hut & Subway. Sonic is best choice of those 4 by far.
Way back when there was a Richards Gebaur AFB, there was a Sonic right around the curve. The gals all delivered on roller skates. doubt any still have that., but the young cuties still get a couple $$
There's a few cruises a year here, and Sonic welcomes all the classics too,
kind of a whole town event.,even a few Mopars

This is a sore subject for me. I see at least 5 commercials a day for Sonic and there isnt 1 near me. Ive never understood why they waste the money advertising locally here when the closest location is more than a half hour away. Ok, Im done lol

We have so many Sonics around here that you can drive about 2 miles in any direction and find one. They were sort of novelty when they first opened up ,harkening back to a bygone day, but that`s worn off now, especially since they over-built. From what I`ve tasted their food is okay though, priced on the cheaper side, but the experience is enjoyable. I think most people would enjoy it with the carhops and the atmosphere. Bring the kids if you have some, if not borrow some. I think you`ll enjoy it.

The Sonic in Summerville and Goose Creek, SC both welcome cruise-ins. Low Country Mopars cruises to them on Friday nights.

I love their food, but I can't eat there too often as I'm a bit larger than I want to be.

My parents used to take me to the A&W in Wooster, OH all the time. Those were good times. Unfortunately that was a long time ago and the A&W there is long gone now.

Our local car club has a cruise in at the Sonic every Tuesday evening during the summer. The manager only charges us 1/2 price for our food and drinks. He likes the crowds the cars draw.

Our Sonic has Crusie nights.I ate there once and next to Whitecastle it is the WORST burger joint that I have ever ate at. Jim

TOOLMAN MIKE!!!

You're in MaidRite territory, son.... eschew those mundane Sonic burgers for the unique taste of a genuine IOWA MaidRite!!!

What I'd give for one, right now....
Arkansas doesn't have any MaidRites.:angry7:

Bill, in Conway, Arkansas

Me and the wife like Sonic allot. We go to the cruise in there (the one Bigstroke3 mentioned) as often as possible. The old time car hop serv. is pretty cool. Food is good and priced good. I'd rate the food higher than most of what is around here which is Hardees, McDonalds (yuk), Dairy Queen, Arby's, KFC, Burger King, Wendy's, A&W, Long John Silvers, Taco Bell.

We have 3 here in town and they do promote cruises and poker runs, I remember when the girls rolled out on roller skates and take your order, They would play car music for the clubs here, Me I go for the chilly foot long cheese, onion and H.peppers and a strawberry shake.
