My ‘66 Valiant Convertible at CTC Cars & Coffee

The ‘66 disc brake master cylinder is one reservoir but it had extra capacity added, so it’s a one year only odd part. When I decoded the fender tag I did not expect that it was originally ordered with all the cool bits on it - I’d like to know if someone ordered it that way. It’s also a radio...

My ‘66 Valiant Convertible at CTC Cars & Coffee

It’s my car. Yes the disc brakes were original equipment but I did get rid of the single reservoir master cylinder. The fender tag has the disc brakes on it.

    What would you do

I that once I’ve got it running I won't be getting back to swapping engines later. I think I’d be putting the slant six back in if it’s ready to go because it sounds like you’ve got enough other things to get to.

    Well that escalated quickly.

I know what you guys are talking about when a simple upgrade to my car becomes a big project. But it can be worse: I met this girl and said hello…

Exhaust system for a 1965 Dodge Dart GT

I think the first question is what exhaust manifolds or headers. Do ‘68 manifolds fit on an early A? I doubt it but don’t know. So it’s either ‘66 & earlier manifolds or headers. So I think the first decision is what manifolds.

    '65 Mustang Hi-po vs '65 Formula S

In general the Hi-Po 289 had the edge on the 273 Commando depending on drive rear axle etc. But the Barracuda had superior handling.

I’ve got an extra pair of vent window frames for a convertible if that helps.

'66 convertible vent window aux seal location?

Does this help? The vent window frame on the convertible is different from a hardtop. The Conv has a flat top while the hardtop is pointy.

1966 Valiant back on the road

Today’s project is installing my NOS air cleaner. I bought this off of eBay many years ago. The seller said his dad worked at Chrysler HQ Highland Park. He claimed this was in the underhood mock up area for years. I knew exactly what he was talking about because I remember going to that room in...

1966 Valiant back on the road

I bought some tires for the car today and I didn’t think I’d need to tell them white letters out. But we are road ready but still plenty to do.

1966 Valiant back on the road

Now that it’s home there’s still lots to do. I need to get tires. And I can now install all of the parts I’ve been accumulating for the last nine years such as the door panels; I even put one on today.

1966 dart commando 4 speed id

A build sheet or a fender tag (with a matching sequence number on the radiator support) is the only way to verify if it came from the factory with a four barrel engine. It’s cool but I don’t think anyone really care’s except a few of us.

1966 Dodge Dart GT - Trying to Determine How Rare

That is a cool car! A really cool car! And with great options. I don’t think painting it would add much value even though it’s not really all original with the grill lights and side marker lights added. It is usually best to spend as little as possible on these early A-bodies. If you’re...

1966 Valiant back on the road

After almost a decade my 66 Convertible is running and even licensed again. I bought this on eBay about seventeen years ago. I drove it for quit a few years. 1966 Plymouth Valiant bumpers

The ‘66 Valiant & ‘66 Barracuda bumpers are the same. Everyone with one of these cars is looking for nice bumpers. If you have no bumpers you’ll probably have to locate some used ones & they most likely will need to be rechecked.

    1st/2nd Gen Barracuda Handling

The ‘66 Formula S handles good enough that it can be easy driven in todays aggressive traffic. Not too bad for a 56 year old! The limiting factor for improvement will be tire width.
