    Slant 6 to 318 conversion...

Hi guys I envisage the possibility to swap my slant-6 to a 318, but want to keep my A-230 3-speed gearbox. A non-irreversible swap as I would use a Schumacher (or Trans-dapt) L6/318 conversion kit on my original K-member. Is my slant-6 clutch compatible with the V8? And what's the bellhousing...

[WANTED] Early A body S6 to V8 swap parts

Hey together, I am looking for the parts to swap my early a (1964 Dart) from Slant to V8. Meaning I need the gas pedal, centerlink, throttle and kickdown linkage, and potentially a sb pushbutton 904 If you have things to sell please let me know BR Simon

    Dodge 318

I have 2 slants, one an auto and the other a manual. I have several V8's as well. I did a 5.9L swap into my 72 Charger. IMO I would keep the slant 6. Everybody has a V8 these days, how many people still have the slant 6. The slant is a fast peppy motor when it's running right. My slants will go...

3 ohm vs 1.5 ohm ignition coil

Factory Service Manual does not list different coils for Slant 6 versus V8. The 1.5 ohm coil and a 0.6 Ballast Resistor is the best match to the Factory Electronic Ignition set up.

[WANTED] Early A body S6 to V8 swap parts

Don’t let someone try to sell you a “V8 k-frame” ….1963-1966 slant six and V8 are the same. If upgrading to a V8 it’s also a good idea to get V8 torsion bars and bigger 10” or disc brakes…also the stock 7 1/4 rear won’t hold up to a V8 unless you plan to never get on the gas hard.

Swapping 340 into 64 valiant. Center drag link hitting oil pan

His definitely looks like the slant 6 version to me. It's not exactly straight - it's got a slight drop to it (bottom picture).

3 ohm vs 1.5 ohm ignition coil

OK, so on my slant six I was running a 3 ohm Pertronix coil, no ballast resistor, with factory mopar electronic ignition. I'm swapping to a v8, and I read on the Pertronix website that the 3 ohm coil is for 4 and 6 cylinder applications, but for a v8 one should use the 1.5 ohm coil? Am I not...

[Found!] 63 Dart 225 /6, pushbutton 904, drive shaft or V8 conversion stuffs

Hey FABO. I have a 63 Dart GT convertible without a drivetrain. So, ideally, I'm looking for... 225 slant six/pushbutton 904 combo and Drive shaft to drop in and make it go. Or... Everything to make a 80s 318/727 work. Motor mounts, 64-66 V8 K member, dropped center link, and floor shifter...

    Slant six transplant ‘64 Barracuda

Greetings All, Just purchasing a 64 Barracuda project car. Originally was a V8 car with PB automatic, both of which are now gone; as is the driveshaft. For my needs, a newer (early to mid 1970s) 225 slant six and 904 combination would seem to be easy to find, do the job I need it to do, and...

    Slant six transplant ‘64 Barracuda

The issue with the pan is not the center link. It is the front part of the sump. The later pan hits the K member. @briansb71 If you want to keep the PB shifter, send me a message and I'll give you my phone number

3 ohm vs 1.5 ohm ignition coil

I spoke with Pertronix, they indeed recommend a 1.5 ohm coil for V8 applications...though I could not get them to opine specifically on the mopar orange box in that regard. I do recall someone on the slant six boards telling me years ago that if I'm removing my ballast resistor (which I did)...

    Slant six transplant ‘64 Barracuda

Easier than slant to V8. Hunt down the early A slant 6 motor mounts/brackets. The early A transmission crossmember will work fine with the later 904 trans. The later oil pan *should* fit fine and have clearance, since you have a drop center V8 centerlink in the car already. The special pan was...

[Found!] 63 Dart 225 /6, pushbutton 904, drive shaft or V8 conversion stuffs

Just so you know, the K frame for an early A is the same whether it is for a slant 6 or a V8. Only '67 and later used different K frames. A '63 will require heater box modifications/deletion to make room for a V8.

    [Found!] 63-66 A Body Z Bar

Slant 6 and V8 use 2 different Z bars. And if I’m not mistaken, yours will also need to come from a 66 or older car. @SSVDP do you have a slant 6 or V8 one you could post a picture of? I have a few here to compare to if you have a confirmed /6 or V8 unit.

    Transmission for push-button Barracuda

Engine mount location/ K- frame is the same.64 and 65 models. You'll need to ensure the motor has the brackets. You will need the V8 Centerlink as mentioned. It has a greater drop to accommodate the oil pan. V8 Torsion bars would be good. They are slightly thicker than the slant 6...

68 Barracuda Front Suspension Rebuild Kit

Yep, definitely gonna need pictures. Could be that you have an entire '73+ V8 K frame. Or the original '68 /6 K with conversion engine mounts. Or just about any combination of '67-76 K frame and engine mounts to get from a /6 to a V8.

    273 or 225?

As much as I love slant sixes, you're already talking about a V8, so it would be dumb to try to talk you out of that. People build slant sixes because of the love of them and to be different. They'll never be a V8 and lots of people end up disappionted by that, because they jump into the slant 6...

    273 or 225?

Hey all, Im trying to rebuild my ‘66 Dart and have came to yet another dilemma. Slant-Six to LA small block conversion.

Hi, I have some questions about converting my 1966 Australian Valiant from the slant-six to a 273, 318, 340, 360 small block. I have a reconditioned 904 torqueflite which has been used with my slant-six. Can this torqueflite be used behind a small-block V8? Also, can I use the six cylinder...

    273 or 225?

Early A’s use the same K member for v8 and slant. He just needs the motor mount brackets. If he goes aftermarket/Schumacher v8 mounts he won’t need the drop center link, as they raise the engine enough to clear the link. The v8 throttle bracket and the exhaust manifolds are all he really needs...

Flywheel ? for the /6 guys

It is possible I am wrong. Don't have a lot of experience with trucks. My 64 D-100 has a bell housing that would only fit the slant six. Trans is a A-833OD. I have a flywheel and clutch on hand, that is used with the NP435, and it requires a larger bell housing then the one on my 64 D-100. The...

[WANTED] Looking for 4 door a body

Wanting to buy a 4 door valiant or dart from 67-73 Don’t care about the paint, don’t want too much rust to deal with. Gotta be decent mechanically. Would prefer manual brake and manual steering car. Slant six or v8 welcome. Closer to southern Georgia the better.

    Stock exhaust manifolds vs headers

Since the slant six is "two holes down" it's a much more systematic approach than a V8. INstead of putting on one part at a time and seeing results, the slant six needs all the systems upgraded to see good results. I had the stock manifold on mine ported and the outlet opened up to 2.5" and ran...
