    Negative battery cable hot.

After sitting for about 2 months, I tried starting my ‘71 Duster 340. It was hard to start but after some starting fuild it started. After warming up the engine I turned it off and tried to disconnect the negative battery cable. I normally do this because I don’t drive the Duster. The negative...

    Battery to trunk-would this work?

I want to put the battery in the trunk and want a disconnect in cab for security purposes. I am not worried about NHRA guideline but…. if I went this route could I just add a master disconnect to the line side of the Ford relay to be within NHRA guidelines down the road?

    Disconnect battery when parked?

This might sound weird and I might get laught on, but I'm just wondering if I'm the only one with this "fear". I always disconnect the battery (I have installed a battery dosconnect switch) when I park my '74, even on meets. I'm worried about a fire caused by the battery. I mean, if I turn off...

    Odd problem with battery drain.

One day I went to start the car and it cranked really slow. I had noticed one day about the same time my stereo was making a hissing noise even with it turned off. Turns out after using a test light between the battery positive and the cable and disconnecting things, that the memory power for...

Stop in for a cup of coffee

I need something for the Charger. I wonder if the key can be left in when driving or if it will fall out? With it being also a street car, you just know some dumbass will flip the switch when parked sometime and have to get back out and switch it on. Edit: I see race classes prohibit the...

    Quick Question..

Put in a cutoff switch on the negative side of the battery before you even attach it so if you have to disconnect the power quick you can do it with a flick

What are you using for a trunk mounted battery?

I'm switching to a trunk mounted position this week. I have been using 0/1 gauge welding cable because of it's tough covering. I also use rubber hose to protect any abrasion or contact points. I also use like-sized ground cables from the battery to the block and chassis. Are you running a...

Couldn't you just throw one of these in your glovebox with a 9v battery? Or use a NiCad or Li-ion 9v battery on it and just leave it plugged in? Simple, and works for me for saving radio settings when I have to pull/disconnect the battery.

    Battery/Alernator issue

Is this a 12 volt battery, not running 13.48 is ok after charging, also should start dropping down towards 12.6. If you really think you have a draw do what rusty says, but disconnect the negative lead and set your meter to AMPs and run it between the cable end and the negative battery post...

    Run stand wiring

I just wired mine up. Fused the wire going to the main power/kill switch only. Probably didn't have to since there is nothing hidden and you are always right there when it's running. A quick disconnect at the battery is a good idea too, but I don't have 1. Cley

    Battery to trunk-would this work?

The master disconnect switch on the negative side is not NHRA legal . I did something similar to the wiring diagram on my race car, the starter relay is near the battery in the rear, and the battery cable is only hot when the starter is cranking

The battery was disconnected, I reconnected it to do a function test before installing the cluster, but I didn't realize the cluster was chassis grounded. I'm just worried that I'm going to reinstall the cluster and it's going to burn down before I can get it out. I have inspected the board...

Lets hear your suggestions for a winch for a car trailer.

Although I am not the world's premier winch expert, here's a few considerations: 1. Rated pull of the winch is the maximum pull when the rope/cable is all the way out. As it winds onto the drum, the actual pull force goes down quite a bit. 2. Do you want a steel cable or synthetic rope...

That's basically what I had in mind. However I would like it to be "hard wired" , and I think if using a diode The battery would stay charged, but not discharge if the main battery had a problem. Also I was thinking even if the 9 volt battery was enough voltage for the computer, I would be...
