Bond a fiberglass scoop to a steel hood

You are correct, I was simply trying to help out since when I wrote that I believed what I had said and wanted to make sure there wasn't an adhesion issue. It's not like I hijacked the thread so I don't understand this comment at all. However... Since then (as of a couple days ago) I have...

    Sold my 71 Demon...

I kept it longer than most. When the project is finished I long for a new one and of course the space to work on it so it was time. I've got a 51 GMC pickup which I finished 8 years ago and will probably hold onto. I did it in matte black and it is on air suspension so I can lower it...

    Sold my 71 Demon...

I found it difficult to come up with a price for my 71 Demon so I thought perhaps this will help others with pricing theirs. My car was a tribute to the 340 with all the exterior parts including the hood scoop holes with the rubber rings. It had been build as a /6 but a previous owner had put...

Bond a fiberglass scoop to a steel hood

There is a problem here. There are two types of resin and they are not compatible. Epoxy and Polyester. Epoxy will not adhere properly to polyester and vice versa. If you sand a part of the scoop and it has a floral smell it is polyester and you must use polyester resin. If it has no smell...

    Lead body work

I used it to fill a couple long partial quarter panel seams. One panel was stepped, the other fit into it and was welded but the fit up wasn't as tight as I like, which is to have the weld fill the gap. So I felt this long thin line would probably show through regular filler. It worked good...

    Engine Oil Discussion

Wow! Go back to the original post...74 slant 6 I believe.... Nobody said, and I mean nobody, that conventional oil is better than synthetic. Its all about perspective. And stop the foul mouthed language!

Biggest front tire that can be run on 1964 plymouth valiant

One thing you will need to know when you start getting responses is the respondents wheel width and backspacing. The backspace or offset will determine where along the width of the rim it bolts to the axle so a given tire may work great on a wheel that maintains the stock outer track width but...

    Engine Oil Discussion

Actually it could be. I was actually referring to a steam powered turbine generator at a power plant. All turbine generator units on the commercial side and I'm sure military as well will use oil conditioners (several brands out there, Bowser is common) to filter and evacuate moisture using a...

    Engine Oil Discussion

I find it very rude to go off on people who are trying to help the OP with their question. This forum was not created for name calling and foul language. I suppose you would call me a liar if I told you I've been involved in operating a piece of equipment that puts out 938,715 hp and is still...

    Pretty basic question

Interesting...when I was a SR in H.S. I rebuilt a dozen mopar automatic transmissions in my vocational auto mechanic class and I thought at the time they were all 727's. The rebuild kits probably included both pan gaskets.

    Engine Oil Discussion

Correct, teflon, my bad. Thats a pretty weak statement with zero scientific facts to back it up. I clearly laid out the the advantages of synthetic oils and unless you are putting the engine to extreme conditions, any oil that has passed the API certification standards will work just fine. You...

A better way? to keep RTV usable.

I also use a screw and usually put plastic over that and rubber band it. I've never put it in the fridge but I do put my CA glues in there and they will last a couple years without stiffening up whereas on the shelf they only last 3 or 4 months. Might work for RTV but I've pretty much pushed...

    Engine Oil Discussion

I used to have an article from I believe consumer reports or Popular mechanics, honestly can't recall. Anyways, they had tested a whole bunch of NY city taxi cabs using several different mineral oils and several synthetics plus a couple using additives such as "slick 50" which was a silicone...

Or...buy a cheap chinese voltage regulator for your A body and watch it destroy your aftermarket electronics! I was reading over 17V when my AC ECU fried.

Fell out of the attic and broke my foot

Sorry man, looks painful. At least it was you and not your wife or someone else. My wife stepped onto the sheetrock TWICE in our attic and both times ended up in the emergency room with a broken bone. The staff made me leave the second time so they could ask her if she felt safe in her home...

    Duster 340 Pressure Hose?

If you have the old one, you could take it to a place that makes up (crimps) hoses and they could most likely replicate it. I have had hoses made up and driveshafts welded up and balanced at a trucking place I used to live near. Make a few calls and ask each for a recommendation if they don't...

Am I alone in this world ? Lol !

For sure...beer! Yep I worked my entire career for a large utility only to watch it go totally woke in recent years. The story of wind turbine blades filling up huge landfills is a total disaster. These idiots push this crap on the rest of us but they don't bother to look into the devastation...

New scotch yoke engine looks pretty interesting

This design reminds me of an air compressor which is used on large substation circuit breakers to activate the re-close mechanism. The compressor had a patent of 1923 if my memory serves me. In the air compressor, a single solid piece of steel was machined into two pistons (one on each end)...

Am I alone in this world ? Lol !

I don't agree the ICE is soon to be gone. Battery production and mining, and disposal is far worse for the environment than natural oil based fuels, we are living in a political and enviromentalist nightmare. The same can be said for all those wasteful wind turbines...don't get me started on...

1971 Duster water temp gauge inoperative

What are you using for a thread sealant? Only thing I can think is it is not getting a ground through the threads. I usually use teflon tape but I have also used paste type sealant and never had a problem either way. Quite baffling.

Turn Signal Cancellation doesn't work with new switch

Hmm? The link took me to their page with a hyper link to rockauto. looked it up on rockauto and it looks to be the same with the yellow plastic and a copper plunger instead of a copper wheel for the horn. I wonder if the company is off shoring the parts now?

Turn Signal Cancellation doesn't work with new switch

I don't think so but thats a good thing to check. It seemed to operate pretty good when I played with it. I need to pull the steering wheel off again but I'm out of time today. Definately something to check.

Turn Signal Cancellation doesn't work with new switch

I know this has been addressed probably more than a few times but I'm wondering if my problem is the result of a poorly built aftermarket switch. So I understand how the tang on the heavy duty spring on the back side of the steering wheel can (inside the copper horn collector) is to be...

    Very impressed with gas mileage

Back in 79 I had a 225 /6 in a 71 Demon and the best I got was 18 mpg. We had 3 other /6's in the family and that was about what they all got.
