    Alternator, pulleys & brackets

I bought this alternator from a forum member for an engine project that never happened. So I can't verify what it is or what it fits. But it is supposed to be a single-pulley (no power steering) setup for a small-block. Never tested. Asking $70 plus shipping from northern WV.

    Duster....

I loved the FWD Mopars. The Dusters/Shadow are basically the same underneath as the Daytonas. The 2.5 Turbo is reliable, easy to modify, and gets good gas mileage. You can find a decent '80s FWD Mopar for <$2000 and drive it home.

    Anyone familiar with Daytonas?

ThAt's great! I never tired of the turbo rush. Try replacing the speed/distance sensor first, if that doesn't work, replace gear in speedo or find one junkyard/eBay

    Anyone familiar with Daytonas?

That, and the CS was a no-options car. It was lighter than the Shelbys. Here is a good source of info on Shelby Dodge cars. http://www.dempseybowling.com/sheldodg/ I really miss my Daytonas.

    Anyone familiar with Daytonas?

2.5's had the balance shafts, driven off of the timing belt. 2.2's did not have the balance shafts. 2.2 & 2.5 were similar otherwise, kind of like comparing a 318 to a 360. Maybe some small dimensions were different on bearings, etc. but basically they were the same. I think most all external...

    Anyone familiar with Daytonas?

The speedo came and went on my 87. I replaced the S/D sensor but didn't help; next I disassembled the speedo itself to find one of the gears stripped. At the time somebody was making replacement gears for sale on the net. I never had any trouble with the turbo's on my cars. Or head gaskets...

    Anyone familiar with Daytonas?

Edit: if the $1750 is for a not-too-rusty, drivable car; that is a good deal IMO. If I was looking for a daily driver I would strongly consider it.

    Anyone familiar with Daytonas?

I've had 3: an '89 CS, '89 Shelby and an '87 Shelby Daytona. The Shelby's were 2.2 T2's; the CS was a 2.5 T1. All 5-speeds. The only problem I had in about 100,000 mile of cumulative driving were: Broken timing belts (twice, both at ~120,000 miles); broken motor mounts (playing with...

    Cam selection

CamQuest likes the XR274R (236/[email protected];0.564/0.570) 552HP@6000, 524 ft-lbs@5000. Or the XR280R (242/[email protected];0.570/0.576) 554HP@6500, 520 ft-lbs@5000. You know about OU812's retrofit roller lifters? No block machining required, they say. CamQuest shows your current setup as...

    Guess My Power Numbers

I agree it can be optimistic. Still fun to play with, though! I used 9:1 and 1.9 intake/1.6 exhaust with pocket porting, of the stock low-perf head.

    Check out this engine bay

I agree...I like a clean engine compartment, especially a relocated battery, but when I first saw this, I wasn't sure if it was an unfinished engine swap or what. Sure would be easy to keep clean!

    Small block stroker windage tray

I'm using an 8-qt Milodon oil pan on my 340/416 build. Should I use a windage tray; and will the Milodon tray clear the stroker crank? Or can I just space the tray far enough away from the crank to clear it? Thanks!

    About Heads

OU812 isn't one to brag on himself...his profile has a link to his web site, there is more info about the orange Duster. Impressive.

Just got mine a couple of weeks ago from Nick Wilson at Compu-flow. This is a mild port (Stage 2) with exhaust porting. I also had him gasket match my Air Gap intake and mill the heads for my desired CR. Superflow 1020 @ 28" water Intake .1 60.4 .2 120.5 .3 181.2 .4 230.9 .5 261.8 .6 269.2...

Oil only on one side of engine... help?

Easy stuff first. Have somebody help you so they can turn the engine over slowly while you prime. You may have simply passed the sweet spot for the oil passage to the drivers side. If that doesn't work I would take off the drivers side rocker shaft to make sure it is installed correctly, or...

    Piston ring end gap

There again it is a little confusing; the sheet that came with the pistons says follow the ring manufacturer's suggestions; the Ross sheet that came with the rings (which are in a Total Seal box with a Ross part number sticker) gives the .004"/inch for top ring and (I think) .005"/inch for...

    Piston ring end gap

The more I read about it, the more confused I get. On my 4.070 bore small block, using Ross pistons and Sealed Power rings, Ross recommends .004" gap/inch of bore for the top ring, and more for the 2nd ring. Sealed Power recommends .0045"/inch for the top ring, and less for the second ring...

    Oil galley plug question

FABO'ers: Working on my 340 build this evening, finally. Just when I think I understand the oil system/flow path, I see something I don't understand. On the front of the block, near the end of the passenger-side oil galley, is an oil passage that goes down to the number 1 main. The small cup...

    Mouse prevention

I've always heard that mothballs will keep mice away. I found some with their own plastic hangers and hung them on my farm tractors in the barn in the winter time, haven't had any mouse damage or nests in my tractors.

What is up with the Dodge Dealers???

My 07 Charger R/T got 24 mpg on a round-trip to TN last week...with me, wife and two kids, driving the speed limit. It will easily get high 20's with highway-only driving. The local Dodge dealer has 4 Challengers, 2 Black R/T's, 1 White R/T and one Black SRT. No bump stickers. They used to...

What is a good oil to use for 1st start up?

I'm either going to use Joe Gibbs BR or Comp Cams break-in oil. Summit has the Comp Cams oil for $5/qt. The Gibbs oil is more expensive.

    more oiling mod questions.

From what I've heard and read, the moly eccentric is the way to go, but just to reduce wear, not for HP gain. I also read about drilling the small hole in the oil galley plug...not so sure about that one. I plan on using an electric pump anyway, but will probably use the moly eccentric and not...

Where to get oil diverter plug

NAPA didn't have one, didn't seem interested in finding one. But the other "real" parts store in town had them. It is a 9/16" plug. I got two because I have no doubt I'll screw one up trying to install it. As a side note, this store, an Auto Value store, gave my 3 y/o son a NASCAR Auto Value...

    Major Piston Damage!

Saw one that bad out of a Buick Grand National once; it had a terrible detonation problem. Cylinder wall was very bad as well. The customer knew it was having problems but drove it anyway.
