    problems problems problems!

Might have to adjust the rockers a bit, tighten the nuts. Tighten until pushrod is snug then a slight bit more. You want zero lash plus a little.

    350-400hp budget build 360 ideas???

I'd get some Keith Black HyperEutectics they'll get your pistons higher in the bore and increase compression quite a bit. Funny the 360 KBs are cheaper than the 318 KBs. I think it has something to do with a larger bore and a longer stroke makes for a shorter piston overall. There's a website...

Goto the Comp Cams website called camquest.com you can input all your engines and vehicles specs and it will give you some recommendations on what cams to use and then take all the variables and come up with a close estimate as to how much horsepower and torque your engine will develop. You...

    Weiand 7505 intake?

Well I'll just have to get one of them, match it up to my summit cam (sum-6901) and I should get some torque out of my little 318 eh? If I run KBs I should get around 9:1+ CR and 8.5:1 with that cam dynamic, sounds good to me I can run lower octane gas. Gas ain't cheap!

    Weiand 7505 intake?

I was looking at those action+ intakes are they worth it? They're much cheaper than the edelbrocks and holleys. I have a T-Quad and its spreadbore, should work.

    explosions on my 318..

I forgot to add that vacuum is even higher in gear when engine braking kicks in. That header leak idea sounds good though.

    explosions on my 318..

Vacuum leak maybe? When you let off on the gas vacuum rises way up until it goes back to idle. Try hooking a vacuum gauge up to the intake and check it at various throttle openings including full throttle. Could be a gasket.

    Whiplash Cam

I was considering putting a Whiplash Cam from Hughes Engines in my bored .030 over 318 I have, would it be overkill with stock heads? They have quite a bit of lift and not much duration to keep those cylinder pressures up. Probably make some good torque with it. What do you think? I'm going...

Chip in rocker arm shaft pedestal

That's what I was worried about,a crack, these heads are 40 years old and were kind of rusty, cleaned them up a bit and found that. I'm gonna take a grinder and smooth it out like you said and see if I can find any other imperfections. Thanks to everyone though. I plan running the hell outta it.

HELP! Need 318 Head Suggestion (info provided)

I have read from many different sources that 318 heads on average are in the 62-64 cc range sometimes less, the 340/360 heads had the 74cc and up combustion chambers. I gotta get me a burette and cc my heads I have. They are pre-air port so they have to be older ones. From the casting number...

    9134S ThermoQuad

I was wondering where I can find different jets for this carb, demon Sizzler told me to replace the stock jets with .095 size primaries and .125 secondaries. I'm having a hard time finding anything on the internet, am I going to have to hit the junkyard? I've found rebuild kits for it...

    Pistons..

The only way your gonna get 10:1 compression is if you get get the block bored to .030 or .040 over just increasing your bore size will give you a higher compression size by itself and then there are more pistons available on the market at the oversize to choose from, Keith Blacks for one. Look...

    Heads

How are you all doing? I just picked up some 318 heads CHEAP (10 bucks heh) They are older 2843675 castings I was wondering if anybody had luck with them? I don't think from what I've read that they hardened the valve seats till 1973 on the same casting. I couldn't pass them up for the price...

    How much off the block?

You have to measure it and get the exact deck height, because not all blocks are the same, they could have been shaved before for all you know. Take a dial gauge and measure the piston to deck clearance with one installed to get a ball park figure.

Poll - Which would you build?

Stroker would be cool, but with the 360 heads you'd have to shave them quite a bit to get a decent compression ratio. A 318 with 302 heads would be fine (i'm doing the same thing, only with a 1973 block) get yourself a rotary tool and port them heads keep keep around 9.0-9.5 CR and you could...
