    i'm lookin at crane golds and i see i can get them in a kit with springs or shims i'm probly going with shims becouse i don't want side to side movement but even with shims there is a little wiggle room

    just want to see what people think about this im looking in to buying new roller rockers and i see some people/companys use springs inplace of shims to set the rockers up and align them to the valves i would trust shims more then springs less likely to walk around anyone have some input...

    i wouldn't buy a motor off ebay even a stock replacement and since your only dealing with a 318 i'd find one local you really don't know what your getting for your money when you buy on ebay and to really know whats in that motor you'd have to pull it a part 318s are common find a low milage...

    from what i've seen and heard edlebrock makes the Mopar Performance heads for mopar same ports on both and same flow numbers the diffrence is the angled plugs in the eddys while the mopar run a straight plug which only comes in to play when running really high compression just my 2 cent

    did a compression test 130 140 psi in cylinder 1 and 8 there the easyest to get to big block in and a body makes it had to get to some plug plus the tti headers make it really hard i also pulled the valves covers and every thing looks to be working right no bent pushrods no messed up rockers...

    i'd aree but when i bring up the #1 cylender to tdc on comp stroke both valves are closed and i can move the push rods "spin them " easy with my finger tips i'm going to do a compression test even tho i took off 906 heads that where 88cc and put on 84cc eddys which should have up my compression

    also anyone think it might be possible that the timing chain stretched a bit some how short of pulling it out how would i'd be able to check that i'm just thinking maybe under the load of the starter truning the motor its justing me a some what random timing when i trun it buy hand thats alot...

    i don't think the balancer moved i just tried putting back on the victor manifold that was on it when it was running just to see if that would change any thing and the same thing popping and backfires i've gone over the firing order atlest 20 times just to make sure it was right i tried putting...

    ok i tried playing around with the valves still the same thing poping and back firing i'm going to try putting a timing light on it and spining it with the starter and see how far the timing might be out never tried it before but at this point its worth a shot

    thanks for the help i'm going to try that trick with the rockers tommorrow it make good sence to me i have never played with shaft mount rocker before and it is a hydraulic tappet cam not sure on the lift i didn't biuld the motor niether did the guy i bought it from but its not a real mean cam

    i never touched the distributor just changed the heads only after it wouldn't start and started backfiring thats when i started playing with the timing

    ok heres what i have going on i changed my heads from 906's to eddys went from the 88cc 906 to a 84 cc eddy the car ran great with the 906's now i can't get it to start with the eddys on there all i get is backfiring and when i play with the timing i get backfiring thought the carb the fireing...

    sorry guys i'm a dumb *** i didn't look at the other head before posting they have the holes but only on one side which is the side i need for the alt if you have power steering you'd be screwed but thanks for the pic and the replies :banghead:

    wow i kept checkin this and no one wrote back for a while thanks for all the responces i did do a radaitor perssure test held at 30 psi for well over 2 hours try 15 psi for 2 hours i wanted to make sure so i went to 30 not even 1/2 a psi drop i'm thinking someone put some thing they shouldn't...
