You've seen (and probably popped) packing material called bubble wrap. This stuff looks a lot like bubble wrap, but both surfaces are aluminum foil. It comes in a roll either 12" or 24" wide.

Take a look at some of the insulation wrap material found at Lowe's or Home Depot. It looks like bubble wrap sandwiched between foil on each side. Provides both sound and heat insulation, and it's very reasonably priced. It comes in various widths and cuts easily with scissors.

If you haven't cut the dash yet, take a look at the "Secret Audio" systems. Here's just ONE PLACE you can learn about them. Oh, by the way, I sell aluminum brackets that allow you to replace that old deteriorated single dash speaker with two modern 3.5" or 4" two-way speakers. Just sayin'...

That's what I mean... those football-shaped speakers are accessed by removing some screws on top of the dash and taking off a removable grille.
