Hydraulic or mechanical cam and lifters? Might need valve lash adjusted if it is mechanical.

Personally, I don't know when they switched to cast cranks, but I'm sure Chrysler would have used up their production run of forged cranks to save money...or when they ran out, they started using cast cranks...who knows?

I have a 72 cuda 340 with a build date of 7/09/72, and it is a cast crank numbers match.

could have been a late 1972 car engine, but still likely to be a cast crank and lower compression pistons from the factory.

drivers side above the starter, casting numbers, last 4 of them will give the engine cid and revision number, ex: 340-3 or 318-1 etc. Also on the front of the block below the driver's side head, there will be a stamping of the engine size and build date, etc. sometimes very hard to see. on...

you can, although the components are placed differently. Some wires might need to be lengthened. Would be easier to get a v8 harness.

should be a machined pad on the oil pan rail with a partial vin, like 9b123456. 9 would be the model year, B would be the assembly plant(i think) and 123456 is the vehicle number. There will also be a date cast in the block 12*20*68 would be a correct for a 69 engine.

I had no problems with Rhoads lifters on my hydraulic cam...

works good as a crutch for an overcammed engine. Allows for more vacuum at idle for power brakes, then the lifters pump up at higher rpms to give the full effect of the cam. They tick when idling, sometimes annoying if you're looking for other problems.

12 will show if yor battery has been disconnected recently, sort of a no issue. 55 signifies the end of the codes, nothing there. 45 is the one to search out, and my info says your boost is out of range.

If you wrapped it up tight with plastic, I don't think you have that much to worry about. It's body filler dust, not metal shavings...

Well damnmit! Wonderful that it is better, but really leaves you smacking your head on the radiator doesn't it? I agree with moper that it had to be in the plug wire connections. Enjoy!
