    Called Weiand today.

You should have asked him if they were ever planning on making an intake that all the holes line up right so you can actually bolt it to your engine.:angry7:

I think the Edelbrock LD4B and the Weiand Stealth are the same thing...

It is a non-issue because you can't get a new Weiand that actually fits right out of the box! The last one I got half the bolt holes were 1/4" off and the casting was so bad that it cut the **** out of my finger.

    Leaking Valve Cover Gaskets

Are they chrome covers? If they are you need to scuff the gasket area with some 80 grit sand paper. I always use gasket sealer on the valve cover side of the gasket.

This is why you should port match your intake (pics)

A few years ago I ordered a new Weiand Stelth for a street 360 I was building. I could only get 3 of the bolts started, all the rest of the bolt holes were off some by 1/4". The casting was so rough that I also cut my finger on it. Sent it back to Summit in exchange for an Eddy performer.

I clean it the best I can and try to take it down to bare metal with a wire wheel on a drill if I don't get it hot tanked , put it all together and sealed up with the parts that will be painted engine color (block, heads, pan, valve covers, ect), chase the moisture out of it with a torch then...

    changing oil filter on 318

Can you post some pics of the area for us? Sounds like you might want to line up a 90* oil filter adapter before you do the job. That or use a short WIX filter so you can get more clearance in there.

    Smooth out a 360?

I have heard that all the casting bumps and small (non structural) ridges on a motor actually help in cooling, that makes perfect sence to me but if I were to smooth out the block and heads of a 40 over 360 how much difference in cooling would you think that would make on a daily driver? With a...

any downfalls of a shorty oil filter??

I ran a short WIX filter for years on my daily driver with a 360 and never had any problems, run the biggest filter you can fit but please DO NOT USE A FRAM OIL FILTER THEY ARE ****!

    Gear drive

I haven't gotten that far yet. I don't even have a car to put this motor in so I am not putting a lot of time into this motor right now, I'm just playing around with it as I go. I'm rebuilding a 360, a slant six and a 350 chevy all at the same time so my focus isn't just on the 360 right now.

    Gear drive

I installed a CAT one in a 360 that I'm re-rebuilding and the only mods I had to do was grind down 2 spots on the inside of the timing cover then drill and tap a hole in the block. No big deal at all.

Are you planning on new rings and bearings as well or just cam and chain? Looking at the pic are you sure it wasn't 191,000 miles? It's pretty messy in there. I would also add a new oil pump and pick up to the job because your pan is going to be packed full of crud if the heads look like that...

Replacing engine without removing the tranny?

Just remember if you do it that way you will have to cap off the tail shaft of the tranny or you will have a nice big red mess and you will defiantly want to get a load leveler and put the car up on jackstands if you are pulling them as one unit. Oh and watch your tranny cooler lines when you...

Replacing engine without removing the tranny?

You can leave the radiator in just pull the fan, pulley, shroud and place a piece of plywood across the front or the radiator, the lift plate will work fine but a load leveler is the best thing to have, unhook exhaust from the manifolds, pull distributer, unhook hoses/electrical, unbolt the...
