    Opening new detail shop

I am using Simoniz product. I have a Mytee extractor, a low speed buffer, an ozone generator, a Tornador and of course the pressure washer and shop vac. I'm not going to do any paint correction until I get established and get a feel for how much business there will be. Mainly cleaning cars...

    Opening new detail shop

Well, I hated my job and needed to do something about it. I decided to open a detail shop. I've been remodeling the place for a month and can proudly say that this coming Monday, Attention to Detail will open for business. It is a four bay shop and I will start with 3 employees. I have a lot of...

    Help name my detail shop?

I have a job I absolutely hate and have decided to open a detail shop. Looking for a good, catchy name. Rub One Out will not work. So far I am leaning towards Attention to Detail. Anyone want to chime in with a good, usable name?

    I'm a grandpa again

Not a Mopar, but a cool 1st year El Camino

It's beat up and the interior looks like a beat up old couch from the 60's, but the body style is cool even to me, who didn't like El Caminos. It's a 1959 with an original 348 motor. The guy takes it to back to the 50's and a few shows, but never has plans to fix it up. I like the fins.

Anyone pulling the A body out of storage yet?

I took it out and did the first burnout of the year, then damn near fishtailed into the ditch. Took it out last night to the car wash for the first time of the year and got all kinds of honks and waves and people stopping to talk.

Anyone pulling the A body out of storage yet?

It's 63 degrees on March 10th in Minnesota. That just doesn't happen here. The snow is almost all gone and the sun is shining. I'm starting the Dart tonight. I may not be able to resist going for a spin, but it hasn't rained and there is salt on the roads, so I'll probably back it into the...

What caused this push rod wear?

Yeah, but why only two? I agree with the oil delivery issue. The push rods themselves were clear. That's why we also replaced the lifters. 88,000 miles on this 3.4.

What caused this push rod wear?

We are working on a 2005 Impala, replacing the intake gasket as is common on all 3.4l engines. We noticed the #3 and #6 intake push rods have the chrome rubbed off and are slightly pointy on top. The rockers look good with no unusual wear, so I went with a couple lifters as well thinking that...

Anyone else tired of all the for sale posts and lack of tech posts?

I get the fact that we have neat stuff to sell. However, I use the forum to find advice for my car and help others. The last week or so when I open FABO the opening page is covered in for sale posts. Three times now there were 16 for sale posts and 4 technical posts on the opening page. I would...

What's the best and most reasonably priced GoPro camera?

I want to buy a GoPro. Holy crap there are a lot of choices. It looks like the Hero3 is the new one. Then there is white, silver and black edition. What is a good one to buy? I will use it on my car almost exclusively.

    Ripped off

How come no one questions the truthfulness of "the empty box"? Why is it always the seller who is the ripoff artist and not the buyer?

68dodge, you are an f-ing child. He wants to help you, but you stubbornly refuse his help. See if you can understand this .... he wants to get you your part or your refund. He needs a little information from you. You say you want the part or refund, and you have the information he needs. Sounds...

Just a little info about USPS ... my brother works there. He says guys have contests to see how far they can throw a box and hit the bin. Just sayin' .... it is likely not Ply30's fault. And he has offered to help as best he can. And he insured it. And you acted like a child and hung up the...

As usual, Abodyjoe hits it right on the head. F-bomb 'em. If they want the wood, let them come and cut it up. It sounds as if they want want it cut up, split and delivered to their home with no work, effort or pay on their part. On second thought, deliver it. One piece at a time through every...

Why do they have to reinvent the wheel?

Changed lots of them. They are marginally better than the old 5.4 that blew the plugs out. I have a time-sert thread kit because we do so many of them.

Why do they have to reinvent the wheel?

Those take a hex socket. No big deal. I just don't understand why they make everyone buy new tools for absolutely no reason.

Why do they have to reinvent the wheel?

Working on a Mini Cooper, and it has no compression from the sound of the engine turning over. Try to pull out a spark plugs, but guess what? They can't use a standard spark plug with a hex like everyone else, they have a 14mm 12 point freaking spark plug in it. I don't, and none of the other...

So when do you think they should have stopped?

The reason you don't understand is that you are not a moron. It is very difficult for a person of even normal intelligence to grasp how a moron lives and thinks. I would be more worried about you if you had understood ....

So when do you think they should have stopped?

Nope, not locked up at all. A used wheel and a new tire and they were on their way. It is icy on the roads from all the snow and freezing rain. I would say they braked at one point and locked the wheel up and it could never gain enough traction to start spinning again.

So when do you think they should have stopped?

I was thinking of welding a little material back on, grinding and buffing it to shape. I had to do that on a crankshaft keyway this week on a 91 Nissan. The keyway was so bunged up, it was buy a motor or weld and grind. Weld and grind, maybe he'll get another 22 years out of it?

So when do you think they should have stopped?

And this was not done by the tow driver. This was done by the driver of the Windstar. They called a tow because they had a flat. That would be an understatement.
