What kind of oil filter do you guys use?

When I had my camshaft replaced recently, the Microguard (the guy at O'Reilly's told me they were a Wix brand) filter I bought for the 340 wouldn't fit with my headers because the "stock" filter they sell is too long. The shop doing the work put this really tiny filter on the car and I went...

72 Duster twister with the 275 horse 340 engine?

The dust ball and swirl were a standard 340 stripe features not limited to the Twister package. A Twister has "Twister" written (tape anyway) on the quarter instead of the 340. The point, at least from what I've read, was to put 340 dress on a smaller engine. That's why they are slant six or...

72 Duster twister with the 275 horse 340 engine?

Did it have both Twister and 340 decals on the quarters? That would be interesting to see.

    Plymouth Scamp question

I can't speak to a whole lot of details, but I do know, as one who had a slant six swapped with a V8, that the slant six automatics don't mate up with the V8s. That would have been changed as part of the drive train swap. Since it is a 360, you may want to check and ensure that the rear end was...

    What oil are you using

It's actually mainly from plants :) Does the Royal Purple stuff at WalMart have the right additives in it for flat tappets? I saw it was race oil, or some such label, but saw nothing else on the bottle that mentioned ZDDP. I was hoping to find something I could buy in the 5 quart...

    Brewers performance

They let me exchange an A body shifter handle some months after the purchase with absolutely no hassle. It didn't work with the Keisler kit so I exchanged it for a pistol grip handle. I would buy from them again if I ever have need to.

    Hose and Hose Clamp Basics

Springs eventually relax over time, so is there a recommended replacement time on the spring loaded clamps? I would think the screw clamps would be better for this reason since you can tighten them periodically, but I have been wrong before. :)

    NAPA store

The downside to NAPA is that they charge freight for anything they don't have local, which I don't think the other stores do. I was looking for a canister purge valve this last weekend, and the part I picked out wasn't local so I would have had to pay freight from somewhere to get it in. The...

    Insurance Hagerty/Grundy ??

That's not what the agent told me. I said I would drive the car to work occasionally and the person said that you can only drive it to shows and cruise ins and it has to be garaged at all other times. Maybe you got a better agent. :)

    Insurance Hagerty/Grundy ??

When I talked to Hagerty last year, they required the car only be driven to shows and cruise ins and could absolutely not be driven anywhere as a daily driver (work, store, etc.). That and it had to be garaged at all times. They keep the cost down by reducing the likelihood of an issue. I...

Is A New Chrsyler A Patriotic Purchase?

The "Japanese" cars are more made in America than some of the traditional American brands these days. I don't get too bent on the American thing since there are many "foreign" brands with American factories and American brands with foreign factories.

    new classic industries catalouge

I do wish they would reproduce a period correct or similar instrument cluster. They have all of the parts for it, just not the shell. The have modern shells for modern gauges, though. I do enjoy looking through the catalog, though.

Sign up for their email list and wait for a coupon code. The only downside to the codes is they charge for shipping with the large orders that normally have free shipping.

    Pawn Stars on CRACK!!

That's the show I saw and, based on the work done, I didn't think that number was real unless he was just counting parts with no labor. Otherwise, I should have sent my car out west!! :D

Fiat/ chrysler o'boy here we go

My 2006 Dakota has, without a doubt, a much cheaper interior than my 97 Dakota had. I've already torn up two seat covers in it. I have had better luck with some of the other components, though. Overall I really like the truck and its design. Maybe it will come back one day.

The Dart is now in hibernating

Is that city or highway? I'm curious because I'm going to have a 340 with 3.23 gears (with a TKO500) when my Duster gets done and have no idea what sort of economy I may really get with it.

    Mopar Welder acient awesomeness

The tire plant my father worked at for years used to have a number forklifts with slant six. The shop that rebuilt my slant six (now being swapped for a 340) had rebuilt those forklift sixes many times over the years.

I bought a TKO-500. It isn't in yet, but should be by the end of the year.

I hate the new Dodge Dart

Fuel economy is killing Chrysler because they can't compete in their class with any of the other manufacturers. I was glad to see they were finally able to invest some money in a higher efficiency motor. I know it is a modification to a Fiat motor, but take what you can get. I saw a few...

Has anybody tried this hood blackout kit?

I've pretty much destroyed the true Twister in it by putting in a 340 and a modern 5 speed. It is an original A51 car, for sure, and will keep all the hood ornaments. I've got a post in the restoration section on it. I originally wanted to restore it with the slant six and buy a different car...

Has anybody tried this hood blackout kit?

Interesting. My father had the hood repainted in the mid to late 70s on his 73 duster because it was rusting. He swears it was painted, but it could be that the shop just painted where the decal was. The scoops would have been painted flat back, though, right? I like the hood blackout, but...
