    Fabricated Aluminum Valve Cover

It's a new bracket car build,I'm using a Mr Gasket pan evacuation. This was during the brake-in of the new stroker motor. I was mistaken about the pressure,75 psi cold,60 psi hot at idle. These are the KMJ Performance covers I'm using. This afternoon I put some hard Holley bowel gaskets under...

    Fabricated Aluminum Valve Cover

I was thinking of trying to make gaskets for them. A Holley bowel screw gasket looks like a close fit. Did he make his or something he bought?

    Fabricated Aluminum Valve Cover

Moroso Perm-Align gaskets Strange thing is just got three bleeding oil,all on the bottom. I pulled the covers, poured a little oil in them and they are not leaking around the top of the tubes at the welds. Takes about 5 min. for the leaking to start. Running a HV pump,75psi @ idle hot,15-40 oil.

    Fabricated Aluminum Valve Cover

Who makes a good fab aluminum valve cover for small block Mopar? I've tried the $80.00 e-bay covers, got oil coming out of the bolt tubes. Not looking for $300 buck plus covers either.

    Spark plug and timing recommend

My brother who passed away in 2014 use to say "You got the best dyno strapped down in the trailer" I understand a dyno has it's advantages with the right operator. But my thought was always nothing like real world results on the track. Are the AR 3911 plugs in the ball park? Thanks for all the...

Thanks for all the info. It's my first small block race car, been reading up on them here. Lots of smart guys on here.No dyno in my area, closest is several hours away,so I'll be tuning on track. I know I'll have to play with it and see what it wants. Just looking for a consistent car not how fast...

Heat soak? Edelbrock carb & air gap

Mine would start and idle, rev fine, but would die when I put it in gear.

Heat soak? Edelbrock carb & air gap

Use the insulater gasket. This is a common problem with the Eddy carbs. I have a '68 Super Bee running the Eddy carb till I can give the OEM Carter a replate & rebuild. I kept having a problem with the car starting after warm up,acted like vapor lock. I used a 1/2 wood spacer, problem fixed.

    M1 or victor intake ??

Thanks for all the info Yellow Rose. The shop did correct the port alignment. I saw before and after, this one wasn't off all that far at the start. Guess I got lucky. Lots of smart guys on here with known info. Really helps a small block newbie.

    M1 or victor intake ??

This is a bracket car,not really looking for highest hp I can get. Really just want it consistent. I know working the intake can help there too so I guess it will just come down to A-B testing. I'll be starting out with the Victor. I'm thinking either intake could use at least a 1" spacer. Any...

    M1 or victor intake ??

Guess being a big block guy all my life, swapping these small block intakes just takes alot more time and more of a pain. Plus the distributor is in the wrong end lol.

    M1 or victor intake ??

Has anyone done an A-B test of a 340 Victor vs Holley Strip Dominator? My 340 stroked to a 431 is finished @ the machine shop with the Victor on it. I have the Holley intake too and plan to do a test with both once it's up and running. My combo is a Bloomer kit,12.25 compression, max ported Eddy...

I'm just starting a 340 stroker build and plan to epoxy aluminum plates in the valley to cut out windage & keep hot oil off the intake. Running a solid roller. Also gonna smooth the valley & add oil return holes. The July issue of Mopar Muscle mag. shows one done with the plates if you care to...

    Hard Blok for 340 Stroker

I'm still looking for someone in my area that sonic checks. I'm just wondering if it's not best to go ahead and pour it even after a sonic check. Never gonna see the street,so I'd think it would have to help keep everything more stable. No one here doing it now?

    Hard Blok for 340 Stroker

I'm building a 340 +.040 with 4.125 stroke crank, drag race only. Plan to use a girdle with studs on the mains. From what I read the 340 blocks are somewhat thin to start with. I'm thinking I should pour it with Hard Blok, full pour. Anyone used it in their builds? Use a full pour or less? Thanks

mill heads and maintain proper valvetrain angles

Yes you can mill and maintain the correct pushrod angle. A good shop will angle mill them. Ask questions you might have of any shop you use. They should be able to give you answers you can understand even if you don't have a background in engine building.

Alternator bolt threads stripped in the head

I just did an alternator bolt on an Eddy alum. head. This is the best product I could find to replace the threads, works much better than a helicoil & won't back out like a helicoil will. http://www.timesert.com/

dropping the oil pan with motor in car

I just did this about 3 months back on my '69 Dart 340 w/headers. Like Jack said, drop the center link, need a pickle fork for that, slide it out in about an hour. Mine had a Milodon 7 qt. pan & was a close fit,but I never had to take the headers loose. Once you have the pan clean I would take it...
