    Trouble mating 727 to a 440 - HELP ;)

Hey Guys, Thanks for all the help, I've pulled an tried reseating the converter several times. It feels like it's seated, and with alittle shaking did feel it slide in alittle farther. It would be nice there was a space to get a mirror back behind the converter and see if it is truly seated...

Thanks, I've pulled the converted and tried turnning and reseating it several time. I feel the input shaft seat, then the pump the tangs seat in the cut-outs. I does seem to be about an 1/2" though that it's hanging over. I'll play with alittle more and see what happens. Thanks :).

    727 help???????

Crazy Question, but what did Mopar consider a small block? 318 or a 400? So I'm assuming then a 383 and above would be a big block.

    Trouble mating 727 to a 440 - HELP ;)

Hey everyone, frustrating afternoon. Finally got enough free time to try and mate the 727 to the 440, and it didn't fit. The Bell Housing stands off about 1/2 - 3/4" from the engine. The Bolt holes line up perfectly, and the Converter is inserted all the way into the Trans input shaft, but...

    1968 Dart /6-904 > 440-727 Swap

I need your help guys, I haven't mated the transmission to the motor yet, but was curious if the original Transmission Cross Member (originally a Slant 6 & 904 Tranny) will bolt up to the 727? I've read that they both used the same cross member, but figured I'd ask before I start dropping this...

Never Tighten Oil Pan Bolts With The Flywheel Cover Off!!!!

It's the little things that you'd never suspect can hurt, but seem to do the most damage. Thanks for this thread. It serves to remind me daily to respect the power these machines have. In a split second, they can take away the most precious gift of all. Hoooooaaaaahhhhhh!

    904 or 727

TY, TY, TY, TY..... I was thinking about trying to rebuild and reuse, but now I know to just sell her, and put the money in a good Torque converter for the 727 I have. What would you recommend for a Stall speed. I want her to be a daily, but also want to lock up and smoke the tires when the...

    Poor Man's Rear JIG

The guy that cut my tubes built pro-street cars, and he cut the tubes for me. I would imagine that shipping costs today would probably well out pace the machine work. I had been given estimates of 150 - 225 to cut and weld the tubes back together from a welding shop in my area. My Rear had...

    Poor Man's Rear JIG

I'm trying to weld my Axle Tubes, and yes I'm trying to pinch pennies where I can to help save for that "GAS" that the Dart will eventually be sucking down. Is there a way to get the tubes aligned for welding without spending a small fortune on a Jig? One idea I had was to a length of...

8 3/4 Rear Axle Tube Diameter

I'm doing the same, a Ford Rear, and have the perches, and just like you ground down the edges to comform to the tube curves. Now just need the mounting plates. Did you have any issues with the U-Bolts when you squeezed? I know it's only like an 1/8" of inch of each side, so guess that...

8 3/4 Rear Axle Tube Diameter

Anyone know the axle tube diameter for 8 3/4 Rear? Trying to find mounting plates that will accommodate a 3.25" axle tube. So don't know if the 8 3/4 will do, or if I need plates for a Dana 60. Thanks

    a note on 904s and 727s

I'm crazy I guess, I built a 450HP 440, 727, and Ford 8.8 3.73 Rear. She's going to be just a cruiser, and maybe one or two runs down the strip. Not trying for 10 Second car. Should I put a shield in? Thanks

    Will a \6 904 Tranny work on a 440?

Thanks, it looks like I'll have a low mileage 904 Tranny for sale soon. She has 42K miles on her, and was original equipment on the Dart. Was a daily driver til I got my hands on her.

    Will a \6 904 Tranny work on a 440?

Will a Slant 6 904 Transmission bolt up to a 440 Big Block? I already have a 727 Transmission freshly rebuilt, but am thinking that maybe the 904 may also be an option. Thanks...

    Drive Shaft Length?

Interesting situation, I'm pulling the 904, and dropping a 727 Trans in, and this will drive the Ford Posi 8.8 Rear. Is anyone running a similar setup? I'm trying to figure out the drive shaft lenght, so I can have the current shaft shortened. Any tips or recommendations on how to measure...
