clean out the frame any dirt/debris will cause a binding or in your case tear the felt. mine had some very slight bumps of debris, a few swipes with an sos pad & all was good , glass glides up/down smoothly. Lawrence

this is what you are dealing with, your might be on the right track about the bottom edge sliding in the chrome mount. take the pivot screw out & see if the glass will come --out-- if so fix the rubber gasket 7 you'll have that thing centered in no time ,Lawrence

is the pivot point still riveted to the frame? my guess that is is loose & that is why your hitting the chrome trim. hopefully that is not the case-- but if it is no easy fix-- you have to remove the vent window assembly & re-rivet or get a new frame. Lawrence

lock strip is a ribber spacer that expands the windshield gasket not all cars have this -- I do not know what type of car you are working on, most early "a" cars have a lockstrip .

you will need to investigate, did the glass used to match up against the seal? there are mopar manuals online that might assist. take your door panel off & check the regulator, my guess is the plastic regulator wheel broke off & that is your inch. Lawrence
