I wish it was closer craigslist finds

Lots of good parts on this car...for $1000 (probably negotiate lower) worth it to the right person. 74 Dodge Dart /6 runs good lot drives. Lots of rot. Interior is pretty nice fiberglass front fenders are good grille and taillights in good shape. Clean title. Not road worthy and would take new...

Is it because i'm new to the hobby...

I'm doing it backwards from a lot of suggestions here. I'm building the drivetrain first. The car is a running vehicle as it sits, but I'm looking to tear into it this summer and begin getting it stripped down for body work. I don't mind if the engine sits looking pretty for a while either...

Yeah maybe I'll post a want ad. That's more proper than just throwing it in here.

    Forum For Sale Ads etiquette

Had I somehow been more aggressive I might have been the "winning" buyer. But I'm not sure how I might have done that past telling him "I'll buy the parts if the first guy who PM'ed falls through". Maybe I should've asked for a PayPal address and as soon I got it, sent money away. But I think...

    Forum For Sale Ads etiquette

I have a question what to expect when it comes to sales ads in these forums. Normally I'm used to it like this: if there is something that several people want, and a "line" forms for the item being sold, the seller goes down the line giving each person who responded in order a chance. I replied...

Discount Tire just lost my business

Small tire shops around here must not check as closely. Back in 2005 or 06, I had a set of tires, that I bought in 1994, mounted on rims. They didn't say a word. I should look as see what the date code is on them as I still have them.

I was pulled over this morning.. 26mph over in a 30mph...

I think you'll be fine if this is the first offense you've had, or had in a long while. Either they have changed the rules in 20 years, or Ohio is more lenient. I say this because a state hoopie pulled me over going 80+ in a 55 when I was in college and late for class. (Yeah it was dumb but I...

    Got another one....

This thread reminds me of my wife's cat that she had to have put down this past February. She was like 17-18 years old, and it was time. Right now we have no pets but I know she's gonna want to get another one someday. Sigh. I like cats but I don't want to own one. I do get attached to them though.

    Who is in to football?

Haha, it can get real cold next to the lake in Cleveland. I've had a few beer slushies myself.

    Who is in to football?

Well I guess I'll put my neck in the noose... Cleveland Browns fan here. Lifelong. And it's been a long, slow, life. :-) My wife and I have season tickets. We used to have fun when we could afford the stadium beer. Nowadays it's hard to sit through a game sober. Lol. I agree it's an...

    Max MPG- slant vs 318/340

My Dakota has 247k on it. I've wondered if the heads are cracked. Runs fine though.

    Max MPG- slant vs 318/340

Well I can give you some real numbers as well, but all based on my personal conditions of car, method of driving, etc... The '79 Dodge St. Regis I used to have had a 318 in it. Automatic, but I can't recall which model. Drove it from about 1991-1993, approx. 60-80k miles on the odometer over...

    Any NEON owners out there?

I say my Neon is a good car, but it does seem a bit high-maintenance. Mine still has lower miles on it, so reading this thread now I'm worried what post-100k will bring. lol. I think Neons do handle very well, but they have to be kept in check or the handling goes to crap easily. Very...

    Any NEON owners out there?

Easy to work on? Depends. In the engine compartment, if you compare it to an old a-body then no, not easy to work on. ;-) But for a small car, it ain't too bad. I know I had to go out and buy a low clearance jack just so I could get it off the floor. Having my Dakota as my main driver for so...

    Any NEON owners out there?

Yes it can be a fun little car to drive. I enjoy mine overall, except I get 28 mpg, city or highway doesn't matter, if I don't go easy on it. Even then, best I've ever got was 32 mpg. I guess it could be like my Dakota...where under 100k miles isn't broken in yet. It was consistently 16 mpg (V8...

    Any NEON owners out there?

I have a 2005 Neon. I think they got better as the years went on. 2005 was the last year and there's probably a reason for that. I bought it in 2008 with 30k on it. Today it has almost 90k. Things done or fixed: brakes (typical), steering (front tie rod end was bad and gave a nasty shimmy)...

    The Al Bundy Thread

Funny that so many of us are Married....with Children and Mopar fans. I used to watch this show with devotion. I agree Seven was probably the show's "Jump the Shark" moment. In fact I'd all but forgotten about him until he was mentioned here.

It's almost that time, let's see your winter beaters!

I envy you for being able to make this statement. BTW, mine is the 95 Dakota. I don't have a recent pic of it, but it's rusting pretty good now. Not sure it will make it another winter. The plan is to get the wife a new car and I get her 97 Sentra. Echh.

    Weather

Memike, sounds like the weather here in NE Ohio is about the same as yours. No rain just yet. 87 here today, 70's tomorrow, then 50's by Thursday. :angry6:

so i was going 80 through town yesterday...

That is odd. My cable went bad, but had different symptoms. The outer covering was old and cracked apart, allowing water, dirt, grime and whatever else to contaminate the cable itself. Started making a buzzing noise and the speedo needle started bouncing all over.

    Favorite horror flick?

I also like to watch horror flicks. Even the bad ones. I stop over at a friends usually every Thursday and we watch a lot of horror flicks. Just saw 1408 too, and I agree it was pretty cool. Descent sounds interesting, and if it's by the same guy who did Dog Soldiers then I'm in! That was a good...

Stupid things you did when you were young thread

At 11 years old, I mowed over a small tree with my dad's lawn tractor. I now have the tractor in my possession today and it still runs great. At 15, I was backing my dad's 89 Ford Ranger out of the garage so I could get the same lawn tractor out of the garage to mow. I figured I'd just give...

    major score..... woooohoooo..... :)

What also seems strange is the 8-3/4 in a slant 6 car...if it came that way from the factory. That's one of the best ways to go for getting major parts you need for your project. That's how I got my disc brakes setup...from a '75 Dart 4-door I bought. Took off many other parts I didn't need...
