What ever you do don't forget to put the oil slinger back in before you button it up like I did on my '72 Valiant 225. I got my parts on line for this at Rock. I got Cloyes brand. I have those on both of my Slant 6's.

From the cylinder head. There are 2 bosses, one near intake #3 and one near intake #5. Use both bosses at the same time. Have fun! Hope you are refreshening/rebuilding or hopping it up!

You'd need x-ray vision to tell the difference between the 198 and 225....LOL

1974 was the last year for the 198. ( sweet running engine by the way )...mine has manual disc brakes and power steering and it's Golden Fawn....I will post some pics.

Wow, Just Wow.....Rusty this car and Darnells garage car have to be the ultimate daily driver....gosh, just awesome....anything from cruising them to hardware store trips etc etc.....they look great!

Not to be Captain Obvious but it appears the head is based on a peanut head. I think my preference would be to work up a drool tube head.....but a great find non the less.

Seems like your PCV valve isn't functioning. The blowby is getting into your air filter housing through the breather.

I would make the effort to find a 2 barrel intake for the slant 6 so that you can use your 2 barrel carburetors ( I am assuming Carter BBD's). This ensures that the 2 barrel carburetor works as it is intended and there won't be a clearance problem. The factory super 6 set up works great, I think...

I've seen Greys Garage on the tube and that is a good looking car you created. Don't let that engine get you frustrated. Just step back for a while so that you can diagnose with a fresh view. Good Luck with it. I'm biased I guess....your car looks alot like my first Duster.

One good solution taught to me by an old mechanic was to check the obvious, of course, make sure the valve cover flange and holes are nice and true. Clean and tap/clean the bolt holes in the cylinder head. Make sure all sealing surfaces are clean of grease and oil and free of old sealing...

They look really nice. Look to be large tube and maybe fit E and B body cars.....but I am not 100% on that.
