    Ballast resisters

Here is information that I found that talks about MP ECU's and MSDs. This is true with a CD ignition like MSD, Mallory And Crane sell or with any ECU that is internally regulated(like GM HEI or Pertronics). According to MSD(this is not me making this stuff up) the Mopar boxes are not internally...

    70 Duster rewire

I would use circuit breaker and fuses instead of fusible link wires. I would also install the circuit breaker inline with the alternator not the battery. If you follow the EZ wire schematic the circuits will be protected.

    Later Model Alternators

Hi, Which Denso 90A did you use? I have a 66 Barracuda that I would like to do the same. Did you bypass the amp meter or use the stock electrical wiring? Please show picture of Alt. installed if posssible. Thanks

    msd ignition

This is what I found when researching that question. "According to MSD(this is not me making this stuff up) the Mopar boxes are not internally regulated and need to have a total resistance (coil primary + ballast) of at least 1.5 ohms. The Blaster2 coil has .7 ohms of primary resistance and...

    New Alternator/amp bypass set-up

According to schematic you have Fuse Box, Light Swt. and Ign Swt. tied together by gray wires near amp bypass to 2- 25amp fuses at distribution box. Is that what you meant to do? I would think they would be separate to distribution box.

    Later Model Alternators

Hi autoxcuda, Did you bypass the ampmeter? It sounds like you removed old alt and replaced with new alt and bypassed old regulator going through bulkhead, is that correct? Thanks

    MP distrib. advance setup

I was reading an article in Mopar Action Feb.2013 on tuning MP ignition called Cal TEch. It goes on to say that MP distrib. build after 2000 are virtually impossible to setup to run correctly. Has anyone had a problem with this MP ignition system build after 2000? What was your solution or setup...

how to get power in ignition run mode

Just use a jumper wire across the ballast resistor. I believe the wires are blue and brown. Make sure you use a good gauge wire, approx. 14-16 awg.

The 70 / later alternator regulator, from the horses mouth

very interesting. most tests were performed at 1250rpm which may explain why output is low at a low idle.

    New distributor/elelctronic ignition/coil

If you wire it to your diagram it will be fine. Either resistor can be used( use 1 only). The MSD resistor will run a little hotter and give the coil more voltage. There is no polarity on a resistor, so just hook it up like the diagram. I hope this helps.

    Headlight grounds

I'm going to use relays for my headlights. The factory harness uses a wire that goes from left to right headlight(series) to the radiator support. How should I ground the headlights using the relay setup. I'm using 12awg wire to connect to the headlights. The car is a 66 Cuda with 2 lights...

    Alternator wiring mod.

Hi, The breaker I'm going to use is a Type 3 which opens and stays open until you manually reset it. I am leaving the original alt wire to the bulk connector in place? What would you suggest to protect the alt.?

    Alternator wiring mod.

I want to make the Allpar.com mod to the alt. that runs a new bat wire(alt) to the starter relay batt terminal. This allows the alt to charge directly to the batt and takes some stress off the bulkhead connector. The car is a 66 Cuda. I don't know what the alt output is. It looks like a mopar...

car still running with no key wtf

When you install msd6, sometimes you have to install diode inline with alt. fld wire or car will not shutoff due too the field being energized from msd. It happenned to my Corvette( also have 66 Cuda and 71 RR). Look at installation instructions and see if they recommend a diode for mopar...

MSD 8388 Ready to run distributor

    Adding new alternator

The stock alt. is 36amps. I'm putting in a MSD Pro billet ign. system (360engine) and I think I'll need more amps. I thought that approx. 80a would be a good output for me to get. Delco 12si is 78a. I could get a Mopar alt. but the one on my 71RR (60a) does not have good output at idle where...

    Adding new alternator

I would like to add a higher output alternator (80a vs 40a) to my 66 Barracuda. I don't want to bypass the ammeter circuit at this time. If I install a new alternator and install a new wire ( leave old alt. wire connected) from alternator output to Batt term. on starter relay and then leave...

    headlight relays

I'm interested in doing this to my 66 Barracuda. Did you just splice the new relays wires into the old headlight wires, or run new wires form the relays to the headlight socket. If new wires, what gauge wire did you use?
