I would get nothing less than Grade 8. The last thing you want is that thing dropping on your foot because the bolts broke. Like what happened to a buddy of mine.

True! But instead of removing the flexplate I was thinking why not just bolt the TQ on and see if that would work. I guess then I will use the flywheel! I don't want to damage anything and spend more $$$$ than I have to. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did read the whole post. My motor is on the stand complete with just a couple things left to do. Like install the dipstick, tighten down the intake, install the dizzy and with wires and plugs. Just because he did it on the stand doesn't mean it was complete or not, or had the oil pan on or not.

How did you catch the shaving from the bit?

I have tried every dipstick Summit sells. LOL!!! On one install I tapped the tube with a piece of wood and wound up mushrooming the top.

:angry7: I can't install one of these without messing one up. I have tried everything used a open end wrench over the tube, ground the end, etc.. and I still manage to damage one. Trying to get the motor buttoned up so I can run on my test stand. HELP!!!!!!! This is driving me crazy...

If you talking about the fuel pump eccentric that bolts to the front of th cam and is keyed. The arm on the fuel pump rides along that to pump fuel to the motor. I thought that was keyed to? I can't remember right now it to early in the morning.

IMO I would cleaning the motor get a gasket set and replace ALL the gaskets, timing chain, plugs, cap, rotor and wires. Get rid of the Torker 340 and and put a Performer intake. You can usually find one pretty cheap. And if your are replacing the timing chain you can add a mild cam or leave the...

I used Duplicolor on mine and I loved it. I tried using VHT and didn't like the stuff one bit. Duplicolor went on nice and even and only needed two coats. VHT seemed to be too runny and uneven spraying. I used Hemi Orange. Here are a couple pics of mine.

Anyone have any tips to install a new dip stick tube? I had installed a new one but mushroomed the head of it. I have heard of letting it sit on the freezer to contract the metal and it will fit.

The kit they are selling is a stroker kit to 426 ci. They are using Eldebrock heads The one from Rod and Custom Machine uses Hemi heads but not worth the price.

Mine was Mildon not Moroso. Got it from Summit. Just had to do some light trimming. I had to grind the edge a little because the opening for the pushrod was almost hitting the pushrod.

Thats what bought for mine and I had to trim it. Only took me a minute and it fit fine.

I was just about done putting my engine together and went to go paint it and screwed a plug in one of the plug holes of on the set of 302 heads and found it it was cross threaded. I took the head to the machine shop now the question is can I resue the head gasket or do I have to buy a new one...
