Ok I would just cut it off flush, center punch it and then drill it out wit a little smaller drill bit and then tap it out to standard size

I just did the same thing on a 225. I used a nylon rope and just feed it into the cylinder and then turned it by hand until it wouldn't move. I put about 3 feet in before it would lock up the engine. When done with one just back it off pull out the rope and move on to the next one,

As others have said I believe the center link is the same. I put a 73 /6 in my 66 Dart once and had to put my old oil pan on to make it fit. The 73 was a deeper pan. So I think you will have no problems.

Ok, I got around to taking the top off the carb and found not too much fuel in the bowls. Now that car has sat since sat. But I think there should still be fuel in the bowls, so I am leaning towards fuel pump or clogged line. I am going to go ahead and pull the carb and kit it since I have it...

Thanks for the replies and advice. I didn't get a chance to work on it today, but am hoping next week end. I already have a kit for the carb and just have to get a can of the cleaner. Will let oyu know what i find out as soon as I get it fixed.

Yeah that is what I was thinking too, not enough fuel, or maybe something plugged up alittle in the carb. May need to go get a fuel pressure tester and she what my fuel pressure is.

What it does is it will run fine up until I get into 4th gear on the freeway and then it seems to not have any power, kind of just surges. I can hold it steady and it is not too bad, but it does seem to lose power...

Yep, it will work. I have done it before. But it would be smarter if you used one off of a bb as they are stronger.

But the local parts store doesn't list anything for 66 Didi you tell him it was a /6 car or a V8 car.. They had the cable on the V8 ones back then, I got mine from a 65 Dart if I remember right.

Being it is a /6 still shouldn't it have a rod instead of a cable, or are you looking for when you upgrade to the V8.

Had kind of the same problem, changed the spark plugs and it fired right up.

It's been afew years since I put the 318 in my 66 Dart, but if I remember right, I put the engine in without it in place, and just removed teh steering column to get the manifold in.

This may sound kind of funny, but I have had to do it a couple of times with points.. Turn the key to the on postion and then take a screw driver and open the pints with it. It should arch. Put it back together and see if it will start.

On some the cid is on the front of the d/s of the block just below the head.

You will have to remove your radiator and grill, Not too bad then. But if oyu can do it before you put the engin in it would be easier.

Yes it does seem to have cracks between the valves on 3 of the cylinders. that is why I am putting the other head i have on it... Ok, not to sure what oyu are talking about the tapped plug, and I hope it isn't something I need to do before I instal the new head, as I put it on today.

There seems to be no sign of water in the oil. It all looks good. So I think I am ok in that aspect.

Ok, first you will need the motor mounts from http://www.engine-swaps.com/ or you will have to change your k memeber. You will also need a trans for a A body V8. Might even have to change your radiator. Other than that is should be pretty easy. I did the same thing in my 66 Dart a few years...
