Im looking for a inexpensive data logger system, that will let me play back the data after a run.

will something like this work, or do i need more to replay it?

is a lot cheaper then something like this!

I use an Innovative LM2.

Me too, but I don't log data with it, just for keeping an eye on the ratio.

Cudafever, I think you would be miles ahead getting the Innovate wide band gauge kit with data cables and logging software like we have and then just connect a laptop to it for logging.

$150 or less vs 6-700

Or even possibly this with the logger and scanner so you don't need a laptop.

Thank you both!

The problem is that i'm a complete idiot, when it come to this stuff, not so good with a computer as well.

So i look at the data logging stuff that has the software CD to install it. Cause i don't have a clue how to make the laptop communicate with the gauge/controller, exc. And they are the 6-800 dollar units.

TrailBeast,
So that one will allow me to view my run after? aka playback mode?

I got one of those innovative for my car as of course I have the dual carburetors good lord knows I need some kind of clue of what I'm doing adjusting the two. I'm kinda at the just keeping an eye on it here and there when I'm full throttle or when its idling to give me some kind of baseline of where I'm at. If there's one thing that I would make sure to tell you is to have Summit Racing price match as they're close like $209 and I got them to price match eBay for under $150 and the install is quite simple.

Looks like it via the hand held unit, but you might want to ask them about it to be sure.
I don't know why else it would have the scanner being a data logger.

Upon looking closer and in more places it seems it needs more cables and a memory card to actually log and playback data, and by the time you get all that it ends up in the 600+ range.

Take a look here for a lot more on this device.

thanks for the link.

looks like it will only show "real time" not recorded time. Even if i hook a laptop up to it......
Sound like the SD card is were i get the memory/playback capability. but what does the "Logworks CD" do? i would "guess" that it would allow playback from the laptop if it was plugged in.?

I have a laptop, and if that was true, all i would need is the basic package...... Right?

OK, I broke down and called there 1 888 number, and they actually ANSWERED wow!

The basic kit(# 3837) will data log with a laptop and there software or a SD card in the controller. It will log RPM as well but need an additional cable/wiring.

He said with the rpm wire, it was $275. It comes with one o2 sensor but will record two with another sensor and cable to plug into the back.

This looks like i could get what i want without the 6-800 hundred dollar price tag.

The LM-2 can log up to five channels, all it needs is a $12 memory card. I don't remember if it comes with a CD or you download the software to either a desk top or a lap top. Open the program, insert the card, a couple mouse clicks and there are your recordings. It will display real time too. As far as the scanner goes I have no use for it.

Or save your $ and record the tach and A/F gauge during a run with your phone mounted in car

True, but with the recordings (charts) you can see exactly what the afr is at any given rpm. Also you can save them with notes on them for comparison after changes have been made. A very handy tool IMO.

i was real close to just buying a gauge with a sensor, and watching it. because that's all i really need.

But it will be nice to take the time to watch a hole 1/4 run, or a 2minute cruise. while i'm not trying to crash my car looking at something besides the road.

I still wonder if this would work. it's not clear if it comes with the Logworks software? But it does come with the computer cable............

Well i pulled the lever.
Got the LM-2(Basic) 3837 with tach wire and a spare 02 bung so i can check both side.........just not at the same time.

The basic kit don't come with the tach wire. Ended up costing me $281.55 all together.

Didn't buy the SD card so, all recording will have to be done on the laptop, using there software(included )

Now the wait, for it to show up!

Thank to everyone for all your help.

here is the link, to where i got it. I when with them because there support number, actually answered there phone!!!

Innovation has a dual gauge O2 wide band, both sensors show on a single 2 1/16" gauge, i bought one for my dart to install

That would have been less expensive for sure. and i like the look of their gauges.
But, i really wanted the Datalogging capability.

I can hook up a gauge to this unit later on if i want too.

It has a 0-5v output to plug into a data logger or pcm, I'll be hooking mine to my pcm for my fuel injection.
Here's from the site:
Monitor left and right exhaust banks on one single gauge!
Perfect for all V configured engines
Plug & Play setup for both O² sensors
No PC required for additional configuration
52mm (2 1/6”) diameter gauge body
Interchangeable faceplates and bezels: Black and silver bezel, black and white faceplates included
User configurable OLED display (AFR or Lambda)
Multiple ways to display data on gauge
Patented DirectDigital™ wideband sensor control, the only 100% digital wideband air/fuel ratio technology!
Wideband O² Compatible with several fuel types (Leaded, Unleaded, Diesel, E85 & more)
Ability to calibrate O² sensors for maximum accuracy
Configurable linear 0-5v analog output for wideband O² for use with piggy back or stand alone ECU’s as well as external data loggers
Innovate MTS serial in/out (for use with other Innovate & 3rd party MTS enabled devices to add additional logging channels)
Datalog both O² channels using powerful LogWorks software on your PC

You'll like the LM-2, go ahead and spend the $12- $15 and buy a memory card. You'll be glad you did.

If i was replacing my tach, this is what i would have got!

That should work nice with a computer controlled eng.

True was just putting it out there so you can measure both banks at the same time.

I bought a extra bung so that i can switch side to side, to see if it merits reading both side at the same time.(single carb single plane.......should read fairly equal?) I can order another cable for a 2nt 02 sensor if needed.

Thanks Justin. Couldn't find it on there sight when i was ordering my LM-2.

After i get it all hook up and running, will probably buy one off of ebay or something.
