Note, that car is raised in rear. At rest, the top of the tire is at the same level or below the top of the wheel lip.

Johnnycuda, if you run your 50 year old OE rear springs, your tire will be much higher in the wheel well.
I have 002/003 SS springs on it. Stock location.

bet you my "50 YO springs " are better than anything currently made today!
and yes i like the current hieght

275/60-15 drag radials on 15x8 rims with 4.25 backspacing and big bolt pattern axles. They required a little rolling of the wheel lip. Previously with small bolt pattern axles they cleared fine.

68 Stock 340 springs have less arch than the Super Stock springs they created for the 68 Hemi cars. OE New, used, repro or whatever.

Well for now I'm just running these slots that were on the car since day one. just trying to decide orig red lines or just 245/60/14 black wall tires in the rear and 205/70/14 front or 215/60/14 front im worried about the 215/60/14 clearing the fenders
eventually i will buy 15 inch set up as a second set.

I have 235-60-14's on Indy 14x7 slots on the front of my 69 cuda and there's no issues. I bought 245-60-14's first because I wanted them on all 4 corners but I tried them on the front to check for clearance issues and it was just a little too close (lock to lock) and I'm not going to tweak my fenders to make them fit. Stock suspension with the original 50 year old shocks soon to be replaced.

How about 275/60/15 on 15X8 and 4.5" backspace? anyone running this on their Barracuda?

running 295 60 d15 on my barracuda -8 1/2'' w/ 4'' offset , massaged inner fenders, stretched front edges w/ stock shape , 3/4'' offset spring hangars--these were 15x8 wheels before the chqange , caltrac springs have settled now , tires are even w/ the top of fender rim.

I was wondering the same thing. With the 4.25 back space, how close to the spring is the tire?
Can I get another 1/4 inch? What about 5?
In some worlds, a 1/4 more is to much.

My 67 Barracuda with a 8 1/4 axle had a 15 by 8 rim with a 4.25 backspace and a 245/60/15 tire and I had less than 3/8's inch between the sidewall and the spring.
