1964 Valiant "Get Runnin & Drivin"

All I can say is, if any of yall have the chance to work with Cass Eslick at Dr. Diff, do it. I was sweatin bullets that I measured this thing right, but Cass made SURE we double and triple checked before I pulled the trigger. I "JUST BET" this is the only 5x4 small bolt pattern Ford 9" with Chrysler ends and brakes on it. But here it is. I'm gonna get the drums cleaned up good and painted nice so it'll at least look somewhat good. But Cass is DA MAN! All this just slid together like hot butter. Cass, I cannot thank you enough.

Thanks Mike! I've gotten some snide comments from some guys about "why you puttin a FORD rear end under it?", but it's mine and that's what I want. I'll break everything else before I break that rear end. lol And as of now, I still don't have 900 bucks in it. Custom axles and all.

I am not a "purest". Over the years I have mixed and matched many parts and vehicles. I even had a 68 Mercury Cougar with a 440 Mopar and 727. I presently have a 8 inch 5 on 4 1/2 Ford rear that will go into one of my Valiants. Remember the word "hotrodding"?

Alright, I couldn't stand the crummy lookin drums when everything else looked good so I got the angle grinder and wire brush after the drums last night, blew um off with compressed air and rinsed um off with brake cleaner and hit um with a good heavy coat of......you guessed it......Rust O Leum. lol @Jim Lusk you'll be glad to know I went black. lol

Exactly. Use what you got and what you can.

You get what you get (can afford) and don't get upset.

I dig the red. What wheels?

Rust Oleum is a lot better product than it use to be. I'm using a Rust Oleum primer/paint for the first coat on a car I'm painting.

I sprayed the Rustoleum can rusty metal primer on bare metal and it's been sitting since last winter.
I was warned it wouldn't last.
Still looks fine, just dirty.

Of course it was upside down when I sprayed it, maybe that has something to do with it?

Photos keep posting sideways/upside down.

Less runs when its upside down

I'm getting my LCAs rebuilt. Got them blasted and painted. Then I pressed @BergmanAutoCraft's Delrin bushings in and LCA pins. Boy did they go together easy peasy. I just barely needed the press. Very nice. Now all I need to do is weld on my LCA stiffening brackets, repaint that area and I'm done. Thank you Peter Bergman!

....and the stiffening plates welded on. You know, it's funny. My welds look purdy dang good after I grind um down and paint over um. LOL

Congratulations Rusty, and I agree, welds looks strong .
Something I should do, but my 70 thousand mile ride seems to be fine, but I am sure this would not hurt a thing, and help her life down the road
