I've been helping a member with his carb issues in PMs. Some of the info and photos I'm posting might be helpful to others.
I believe all springs are OE from 67 but I can not say for 100%. My dad did not do any modifications to his car but you never know.
I counted 75 turns (I recounted)
The hook on the end goes through a hole in the linkage at the rear end of the kick down link and keeps a washer and the link from coming off.
I wondered why the spring was there and it became evident when I removed it and the linkage all sank down. It seems to be there to counter the weight of the linkage.
