Did anybody say fender tag?? Here it is as I "just so happened" to take a pic of it last Sunday. Two things I see wrong. 71 Demons never came with white bucket seat interior and 4 spd with option code C16, I doubt that. So I would be cautious of the Data plate and the broadcast sheet numbers. They definitely had to be made. If your going to clone a car at least be honest and don't make up a new Data plate and broadcast sheet. Where is the eyebrows and hood chrome. Those are the type of cars I would love to see in person and ruin their day.

Although my pic is clear, it looks like we lose too much resolution when it gets uploaded. So here's what the tag reads if you're standing by the driver's fender looking at it:
VGW V8W EN1
J45 M21 M43 N41 N42 R11
FC7 G B51 G16 G55 H31
FC7 M6X9 TX9 S24 B09133
E55 D32 LM29 H1B 154952
I don't think I've seen that single digit G listed before.
I thought there was another thread where guy claimed he restored it for a customer and interior got changed from black to white, was an automatic converted to 4 spd, scoops and rear wing added. Guy said he make those changes during restoration because thats what customer wanted. Car looks like good restoration to me in the pictures.

That's really cool! And clearly they did a very nice job creating a beautiful car. Not an all-original car but a very, very nice car.FC7DEM ref pics of restoration
Hmmm...now where did I put the title to mine and when is Mecum coming back....Ask and ye shall receive! If you crop your picture down to just the fender tag and rotate it 90° it will probably be legible on the board.
Not that I don’t trust your translation!
That's the Demon I took pics of and posted last Sunday after I saw it there. It was very nice but a quick glance showed it had some purple-anodized carb on it. Definitely not a Thermoquad so not original at all.
Interesting that it sold that high as someone must have really wanted it. As shown in the pic below, they had a sign on it with an estimated sales price of $125k-$150k so they nailed that. (Although I didn't really understand what it sold for in the video.)
As for fees, the buyer pays 10% (of the sales price) to Mecum and the seller pays 10% plus the standard fee of $500-$1500 depending on the day and whether a Reserve was in effect or not. Very nice car and a lot of $$.

I DON'T know who he is but I'm sure he must:I know who he is.

100% understand and agree. These things are about enjoyment, not financial sense!!As you stated someone really wanted it, and... it was an auction so more than one person was bidding.
Agree that it is not 100% stock but, its a damm nice looking Demon and very well built.!
Don't forget... it's 55 years old!
There's a lot of older guys and gals out there that missed the chance to own one of these back in the day and now can afford one.
Its a sentimental thing , not a financial one at this point in their lives.
I understand the mentality as I was one of them.
I dreamed of owning a nice musclecar since I was 17.
It took me until 60 years old to realize that dream and now its in my garage.
I could care less that it cost a lot of money or its not 100% original.
Time is the thing I can't buy...

I think you're spot on here. My fender tag does have a U there and it was ordered and sold in the Cleveland, OH area. And now I know! The letter ''G'' that stands alone on the fender tag is actually a ''C'' which means it was built to Canadian specs to be sold new in Canada.
If the letter ''U'' appears in the same place, the car was built to U.S. specs and destined to be sold new in the U.S.
(This is the letter that appears on the third line up from the bottom just to the right of the FC7 top color.)
