Any info on these would be appreciated.
Are the a desirable head ?
What are they worth as cores ?
Are worth more as scrap ?

Al, what are the casting dates of the heads? I had some 273 heads way back when I was street racing my 67 Dart with a lot of Ed Hamburger goodies in it. He suggested 1.88 and 1.58 valves, I had the heads built to his specs and it really woke the little 273 up.

I'll have to check them.

I bought a pair last year for $50, granted they were in worse condition. I bought them to practice porting and I'm looking for another pair as well. That said, those don't look to be in the best of condition, I'd say $75 for the pair.

Is someone is doing a restore on a 64 / 65 273... and not going to a newer, standard intake.

I paid 200 for a reconditioned set of 64 heads.

They are good boat anchors...until you find that guy close to you that really needs one. I've seen a few people looking for them on here from time-to-time Al but shipping generally kills any deal. You might be the exception to the rule being a traveling salesman and could really help a member in need. I wouldn't discard them if you have room unless your cost to carry inventory is piling up...

Checked the valve size. 1.78 int & 1.50 exh..

The manifold looks like normal later LA bolt angle.

By all means do not toss them on the scrap pile. I would clean them up a bit with the wire wheel and through the solvent tank just enough to show their true condition and put them up for sale here. Besides the intake bolts at the different angle that limits intake choice, they are viable performance heads for someone that's willing to take the time and money to upgrade to their performance capabilities.

Not particularly crack prone. I'd say they were better than newer heads in my experience. Easy way to check intake bolt difference.
1/2 in head, 5/16 unc thread, 64-65 intake bolts.
9/16 in head, 3/8 unc threads, 66 up and newer intake bolts.

I was comparing them to the 920 and 675 castings, not the later smog heads. I sold hundreds of those heads through the years and found the 315's were the worst of those three castings. I only had one 920 casting with a crack, a couple of 675's, but, at least a dozen of the 315's had cracks....mostly external ones in the flat area between the spark plugs.

Actually the 675 was a smog head, just not latest/last of the smog heads. That's the idea of the open chamber.
