No need for a lock washer as long as he gets the rockers good and straight and even at the adjuster hole. They will tighten and hold just fine.

No overheating. It would tend upwards at a stop then go right back down. Proof that spending like a drunken sailor can solve some of life's problems.

Great job Uncle Bob, I like! Did you use Loctite on the jam nut? LOL. I will say I had one let go at the track. I lost oil pressure and the loose pushrod beat the crap out of one of my Indy rockers showering a bit of aluminum into the motor. I don't remember if I used Loctite after that or not. I do remember I was not a happy camper and it was torqued a bit more.
