318 Sleeper build ideas

-
Just build one with the 340 cam, mildly ported 302 0r 308 heads a thermoquad forged pistons and a 350 horse plate shot of nitrous. done deal. They'll never see it comin....but they'll see it goin.

Maybe a 318 w/ 360 heads and a turbo? They'll have no idea what's about to happen off the line..

I was about to say the same. Smooth idle and quiet at low rpm. No one can quess, untill its too late. :D

I'm lookin for a turbo or two for my 318, oh and ofcourse multipoint EFI mostly to make it easier to tune up...
Just cant deside is it going to be in my Fury or Dart.
Please, someone try this recipe and tell me how it works. :D

My 318 "sleeper" is running 12.20s on street tires,14X5.5 inch rallyes, & a small shot (100 hp) of nitrous. .060 over bottom end 9.0 to 1 pistons, 360 "J" heads, & a 3.91 gear out back. nothing fancy. Keep the engine looking stock too, paint everything blue. I also painted my MP Chrome box black & put a repo "Chrysler electronic ignition" decal on it. MSD Blaster coil, painted black, & a phony 2" chrome single exhaust tip out the back. Also gonna gut an old battery & keep it up front & put the real one in the trunk. Oh yeah, don't forget the "Happiness is being a grandparent" license plate frame !

Hypermite, this is a very nice car! I like the grandparent thing....:thumblef:

If you build a fast 318, nobody will believe it's a 318. "That's a 360, or bigger." Or, "A 318, sure".
I always thought a sleeper was a car that was a lot faster than it looks. It'll be a lot faster than it looks with a 408 than a 318.
Maybe I don't understand "sleeper 318". Sounds like an oxymoron.

Yeah, he'll get that A LOT. When you destroy some guys stroker Chevy, or big block, they go into denial mode & refuse to believe that it's a 318. but the satisfaction is priceless.

I was reading an article on building a 318 and it said to use a lot of the 340 components. They shaved the block for zero-deck (with stock height pistons) and used a slightly hotter cam than a stock 340 cam (mopar performance cam) with 9.2:1 compression and 302 heads and acheived 330 HP. I'll have to find the link.
