318 Small Starter

I have seen where there's a lighter smaller starter available for the 318, and it also helps when installing headers. My car is a driver and I'm looking for dependability. Can someone recommend where I can fine one of the smaller starters without sacrificing performance, thanks.

If our cars won't start, then what performance would we be sacrificing. Seriously though, won't any late model 360 stock mini starter fir on your 318?

All /6s and all V8s that originally used a gear reduction starter can use any late model 5.X L mini starter. Actually, this might also apply to the little 4.X L V8, and the V6s, but I'm not familiar with them.

Mid 90's Dakota 318....................

I had an '88 dakota 3.9 with the mini starter as well. Any 88-96 Dakota with the 3.9, 5.2, or 5.9 would work.

This is what I'm running. So far so good. Its about 8 pounds lighter than the original, and goes through the headers much easier. Its a lot cheaper than the Mopar unit, but I am certain they are all made in the same place.
