what is a good-cheap piston for a 360. looking for .030-.040 and something closer to zero deck. I see some Speed Pro Hypereutectic's on ebay.... anybody know if there any good? How's the deck clearence? Thanks in advance!!

I used keith black pistons and they zeroed out fine and were around 189-229 when I bought them (dont remember exactly)

CK out ICON FORGED PISTONS that's what we used in our 408....flat tops at zero deck .030 over....excellant value IMHO :idea1:

I used Speed Pro H116CP hypers in my 360, seem to remember them being down in the hole .017 in my uncut block. Have had no problems with them but the car has sat way more than it has moved.

The KB-107 sits not to far down the hole. The deck may have to be cut no matter what piston you use. I got lucky once with a set of KB-107's sitting @ zero deck once, not since though.

*I think* the Fed-Mog/SP ch116 slug is slightly shorter. It should be checkable.

the kb107 will set down in the bore about .017 also on a uncut block.

mine were down around .017 plus or minus a few thousand....the blocks tend not to be square...as they differ from left bank and right bank and front to back....

which is why is it nice to have the block squared.

my 107s were at zero once the block was squared, but i should have gotten the domed pistons...money was burning a hole in my pocket.lol
