hello every one,i have a 383 1970 which has been hot tanked/checked for cracks, all good ,now for my question the steel crank casting#2206519 is the right crank for this.i have #casting #2206159 which turns out to be for a 400cid can i use this in my 383?thank you all in advance.

Everything between a 383 and a 400 will interchange except, of course, the pistons and rings.
BUT, the 400 is an extrenal balanced engine, so the crank must be addressed with 383 harmonic balancer and flywheel/torque converter or flywheel/pressure plate for the manual trans set up.

The cast crank is weaker, but will still hold alot of power. Better to internal balance an engine and use fordged stuff when possible.

The casting number for a 383 (forged) is 2206159, for a 400 (cast) 3462923 or 3751877 and go with the 383 crank if you can.
