Ur thermoquad will be more of a hinderance. Especially is u don’t have a jet kit. I’m done banging my head against the wall. Kim
Holley Street Dominator is the best bet. I have the Torker II on mine and its a close second. I've been dying to find a 440 Holley Street Dominator but they seem to be rarerIm ready to buy an aftermarket aluminum intake for my 440 dart! Its a street car that may see some track time but i DO want it to be as quick as possible on the street. It has stock 452 heads currently but will go aluminum soon hopefully. Ok, i REALLY want the performer RPM so bad i can taste the aluminum!!, BUT, i run a thermoquad, and by the time i take the height of the RPM intake, plus the carb adapter plate, im almost posotive it will not fit under my flat hood, and i dont want to cut my hood. I wish i knew someone close by that i could borrow the RPM intake and just mock it up on my car to be sure, but i cant see spending 300 bucks to buy the intake with the chances it will fit being so low. SO, i need to figure out which one to get that will clear the hood. Ive read that intake shoot out and still cant decide. Im guessing its between the Torker 2 and the holley street dominator,,? Any opinions are greatly appreciated. I need to decide soon as i have a lead on both the SD and torker 2 right now used.
Thanks!
Absolutely it will run just fine at low RPM, it was designed to be a street intake with race manners up top. It's been dyno tested, street tested and pretty much most people agree, its one of the TOP performing intakes for the RB. especially in a street package. I'll put it this way, IF you get the Street Dominator and for any reason do not like it, I'll trade you it for my Torker II.So even though its a single plane, it will still be smooth running at low RPM and all and no noticeable torque loss on the bottom when cruising around town?
Kim, It DOES have bigger jets! Its a race built carb by demonsizzler..1050 cfm, no choke horn and it does great..Ur thermoquad will be more of a hinderance. Especially is u don’t have a jet kit. I’m done banging my head against the wall. Kim
I had to use a drop base for my air cleaner to get my RPM manifold to fit under my 66 Coronet hood. Love my RPM. Have you considered a drop base?
I understand, I wanted to ad a 1/2" spacer but can't because of room. I have about 1/4" of space under hood. If not for the torque strap I would probably hit on acceleration. I guess I could see if there's one with a lower drop. Good luck with your decision. Hope you find something that works well.I have one but its still too high for the RPM after adding the adapter plate for the spreadbore carb..

Yes. Every time.so you would pick the holley SD over the torker2?
