Bill that's wonderful news I should have the car ready to start back up next week we keep getting one or two nice days here in Mich then we've been getting dumped on by snow and freezing rain.
On a good note I final got off of the midnight shift and on days after six years of working the off shift it feels almost normal now.
Bill im using a tial blow off that's boost ref from below the throttle plate.
    I'll keep everyone posted
    Aaron

I scored a set of 15x10 rallies with 6.5" back spacing on CL the other day we made a trade I had a spare set of 14 inch sbp rallies with new tire for the other rims I'm not sure just how I like them but they fit pretty good I plan to take the 15x7 off the rear and put them up front I've never really liked the stance the car has now it almost looks nose heavy to me I'd like a more even stance but here's a couple pics of the rims
Fyi fuel system is done, but I still haven't leak tested everything yet maybe this weekend ill get out in the garage and get some cap done.
Megasquirt 2 3.0 is built and ready for testing and install

Here's a quick update for everyone still following this build.
Here's some of the run down on what was done this winter
    1. New fuel pump aeromotive A1000
    2. 10 an feed and return fuel lines
    3. Holley 390hp modified by Eric at Horsepower Inovation that was flow tested at 530 cfm with 8an feed from the Mallory 4309 reg
    4. 8gal aluminum fuel cell
    5.New lean burn dizzy
    6. I built a megasquirt 2 3.0 to handle all my ignition control and launch control, data logging, boost control, I've tested it but still need to install the unit.

Yesterday I dropped the new dizzy in and without even messing with the timing the toad fired right up I didn't have much time to do any kind of tuning or even set the timing but ill say one thing the TOAD sure seams to like the corn the car sounds crisper and there is a distinct cleaner smell.
I probably won't have much time today to get anything done but in the next couple days I'm hoping to start with some boost tests ill keep everyone posted and you will get some video
    Stay tuned

Thanks Bill and sleeper I actually got the car off the jack stands and did some tuning and was able to make a pretty good pass down the road. I still have a ways to go on my tuning but so far 12 pounds of boost and 12.00 on the afr.
To bad I lost day light but ill get back at it in the next couple days

This carb is very responsive and shouldn't be to hard for me too get this thing into tune especially once I get the megasquirt installed then I can do some data logging.
This little car put a very big small on its owners face today:D

Stay tuned the track opens soon and I'm making head way:burnout:

Oh, they will do that (make you smile) BIG TIME!

Ten pounds of booost is what we are working with at the present time, and it really feels like about 250-275 HP to me.

But, it's too &^%#@&!!! LEAN, at 13.4:1, so, off come the float bowls and richer jets will be going in for the umpteenth time...

One step forweard and two back... but, you (WE) HAVE to get this right (especially, on gasoline.)

        Stay tuned, also... :violent1:

Bill I totally no where your coming from with the 1 step forward 2 steps backwards.
I had the day off yesterday so I thought I'd start wiring up my megasquirt and try and figure out my boost controller plumbing. I didn't having any plans to rewire the car but what better time for me to get my electrical system in order so the time I should of been tuning the car was spent taking it apart once again. But honestly it needed to be done the right way not cobbled together im a ELECTRICIAN.
So I spent the majority of the day changing wire and adding some relays and removing my make shift stab in fuse holders. I'm not done yet but I only have a couple minor things to address and I need to mount the megasquirt but it's all hooked up and ready to test.
The boost controller got completely unassembled and needs to be reinstalled but that not to bad of a job.

The weather here in Michigan is still pretty cool and I beleive the track opens this weekend but I still need a week or so man there just isn't enough time in a day
        I'm making headway

THIS IS THE YEAR OF THE TOAD!

Bill maybe you and Freddie need to take a step back and you could be overlooking something small can you give me a break down on the tune from fuel pressure to timing and everything in between maybe I can help it could be something as simple as float level

That may well be the case, Aaron; I did some parts=swapping on the two carbs I have, and didn't bother to check the float level with the sight plug in the side of the float bowl.

I will do that without fail, the next time we run the car.

Here's the rundown as far as I jnow it:

Compression ratio: a true, measured, 9:1
Compression pressure: 160-165 pounds on all cylinders; 4 hits...

Timing: locked plate; 18 degrees; no vacuum advance; no mechanical advance

        Boost: 10 pounds max.

Carb jetting: 91's in front; 97's in back
        Boost referenced power valve
Power valve value unknown (can't find a number on it)
Float bowl vent extensions 12" long
Accelerator pump squirters; 45 in front; 35's in back (good driveability; no stumbling)
180 degree Farenheit thermostat with no overheating
        Idles smoothly at 700 rpm

A/F ratio under full throttle 14/3:1
Snowperformance BoostCooler Stage I coming on at 8 psi
        What do you think?

Yah bill I would start with the basics. Fuel pressure and float level plays a major deciding factor in a boosted application on your afr. And with you adding the vent tube extension there even more air or force in a direct path of the fuel bowl cavityI pushing down on the float. I can't believe you need more main jet im half tempted to send you my 650

On the 650 I have 72 main with 1/16 prvc and 82 with 1/16 prvc in the rear and it stayed pretty consistent at 11.0 into boost without vent tube extension
Bill next time you have the metering block off take a numbered drill bit and take note of the prvc size that has a direct relationship with main jet size when I'm building a carb I always open mine up to 1/16 inch to start with and I haven't had to go any bigger
Start there bill and if you want I can clean up the 650 and box it up and send to you just a thought

Spring is here even though the temps don't show it
        Aaron

        Aaron,

I can't find a number on this power valve, but I'll look again.

I'm going to work on it tomorrow and we now have the carb Tom built for us, back on it. IT has a boost--referenced power valve, so it may richen things up when it gose on boost and that power valve opens...

Stay tuned; I may have to take you up on that 650...:banghead:

No Bill the prvc is the two small holes behind your boost referenced power valve if you can see this pic I beleive its 17 on the center metering block

        Okay, Aaron, I understand now.

Tom built that carb to Hangar 18 specs, so I am pretty sure he made those holes what they should be.

Today, I richened the primaries up from an 82 to a 96 and I think my A/F ratio meter quit working. It gets on one num,ber and stays there even thoiugh things are going on that should change the mixture a lot. It just gets on 13.4 and sits there, even if we idle the motor. It is a F.A.S.T. data-logging wideband, single probe unit.

I don't know how to check the O2 sensor, do you?

After we changed jets, we took her for a ride.

        :blob:

With 10 pounds of boost, av gas, and alcohol anti-detonation injection, a 3.55 rear gear, a new set of 9"-wide Hoosiers on the back, my considerable (220 pound) arse in the shotgun seat, Freddie stalled her to 3,000 and floored her...
He nailed her, secondaries open, and short-shifted 2nd at only 5,000 rpm. Instant wheelspin on the launch.

Tire spin continued into and through second gear (new Sure Grip) until about halfway through second, she started going sideways and Freddie had to get out of it... but, it sure felt good for 10 pounds of boost.

Made me wonder what 15 will feel like... :profilel:

Stay tuned; we MIGHT get to actually race at a real drag strip, next weekend.

        Weather permitting...

Well it's been a long time and coming but I final got up the balls and put some plates and iinsurance on the toad yesterday and had alittle bit of fun today on a trip up to the store 100% legal.
The toad is running good and building boost easily 7psi right now with afr at 11.0 to 11.5 the car is running abit hot. It may be to much timing I'm going to mess with the msd 6530 and try to possibly flatting the timing a touch.

Thanks for the kind words its diffently been a learning experience for me as well I had the toad down to Onondaga speedway two weeks ago and was planning another trip down there last weekend but I peeled the bottom reservoir open on my rad it's probably why the car was running hot I must of had a blockage somewhere.
I'm in the process of installing a larger rad now and im hoping to have the car back together by next Wednesday for some test and tuning down at Milan. Atleast that's the game plan

Hemitheus its hard to. Say how much I have in the build turbo components only about 2500 dollars but I've made the decision that every car forward will get some forum of a power adder.

dvs265ap6 thanks for taking the time to read my build hopefully someone will take what I've done and learn a thing or two and will bewilling to try and push the envelope futher

Well I've been driving the car for the last week and I've been getting it dailed in.:burnout: And I finally got everything working and the car is handling excellent. I've been tuning the car at 12psi of boost and will run it there and see what it will do.
The car is every quick and the chassis is nice and stuff and im excited to see what kind of traction ill get on a nicely perped track.:blob:
