Any chance on stuffing an 11" slick? I gave a quick look with a '66 with a G78X15 tire and it looks too cramped. I'm looking at almost 600 HP and that 11" slick might be the largest that could fit.

1) Move springs inboard.
and/or
2) tub or mini tub
and/or
3) cut the outer fenders
Pretty sure you will need to move the springs and mini tub, if you don't want to cut the outer fender.
I ran a 8x23x13 slick with no problem. The tire was short enough, that the side wall did not rub the fender inner lip. Also a 7x26x15 slick with no mods. No way was a 10 inch slick going to fit, without mods.

That's a great answer. Anyone have pics of their stuffed wheelwells?

I wouldn't think twice on cutting the rears with that power. Doesn't even look bad that way.

My Barracuda was a "street" car, with a pretty decent restorable body, so didn't want to cut it up.

I cut the wheel wells, like the above pic, on my 66 Valiant. Didn't mind cutting it. It was bought from a junk yard for $125.00, with no title. It was going to be a low budget build, so that was the cheapest way, to use the tires I had and wheels with a little more offset, outward, to clear the springs.

Keep in mind that the early A's are around 2 1/2" narrower overall than the '67 and up bodies, but the rear axles and springs are the same width, so You have very few
options to put a lot of tire in there. Mini-tubbing will give a taller tire more clearance for the amount of width because the tubs taper as they approach the top, but width-
wise, they'll gain You almost nothing because the inner tub wall is almost vertically in line w/the leaf springs,..that means moving the springs in & mini-tubbing together.

stock width 8-3/4 rear a 10" - 255/60/15 with 15x8 ralley wheels and 4-5/8 backspacing will fit with only slight rubbing on sharp turns and over bumps. about 1/4" from the leaf springs. no can do with 11" tire

Thanks for the info and pics. I think this car will wind up as a stock eliminator car w/273/4. So no inboard spring swap and no cut fenders. So a 9X30X15 work? The car is buried in a friends garage and there is no way I can check it out. If I pull it out he won't let me put it back, so its an all or nothing deal.

Think you will have issues with the 30".

The 8.00/8.50-14 that M&H makes may fit up in your fender wells & they are 28" tall. With the 14" dia wheel gives a good ratio for the sidewall to dia/tire ratio.

28" tire and a 14" rim will push my 4.88 gears to probably 5.10 or more. A 300+HP 273, needs as much contact patch as possible. I used that same combo on a street '65 Dart with a 285 HP 318, 3.55 rear and it did relatively well.

You will be able to get a 9” slick on 14 x 7 rim and an 8” slick on
15 x 7 rims with no mods. 28” height is absolute max.
Here is my 65 Dart with 225 70 15s on the rear which are snug as you can go on an early a.
Also have phoenix 15x 8” slicks for special occasions that are about 27” tall

Start shopping for 4.56's...........................................

While it did turn the slicks over and had some trouble hooking, I knew somebody running 26" 8.5-14's on a '68 Camaro w/a 454 and tunnelrams 11.70's IIRC, exactly what
time zone You think You're gonna be running in w/that set-up of Yours? Still leaf springs & slappers on that 'maro BTW.

Cal Trac. I'm looking for 11.80-.90's.
