67 Dart Post Project

-
When the lower hinge sags, people start slamming the doors harder and harder, eventually tearing the shitake out of the striker and surrounding metal. Dynamic Restoration sells a nice reinforcement plate for that spot and they aren't "Crack Smoker" priced. BTW, own a '69 Valiant 2-dr sedan- very basic and cheap, thats why I love the car (okay, the $150 buy in for an 87K mile, no rot original was sweet, too).

Been out of town on business for a couple weeks so i just got back to working on the car. Welded in the new drivers side door jam last night and I will be welding in the quarter panel patch tonight, hopefully. All the major reconstruction will be completed soon!!

Oh, and I ordered an AAR hemi scoop for the car yesterday. If that doesnt add some attitude I dont think anything will.....

Great progress on the car!
How did you like the fit etc. on the AMD floorpans?
Good to see another post car saved.

I thought the floor pans fit great. I would probably use a 1 piece replacement next time instead of the 2 half pieces. Much less welding that way.

Finished welding in the patch panel tonight. The driver's side is finally ready for body filler. Won't be too long before the whole car is in black primer!! I also adjusted the torsion bars today and got the stance close to where I want it. Looks much better with the front end lowered.

Installed the AAR Hemi scoop today and gave the dart a serious attitude adjustment. Never have I owned a car with a scoop that big but I'm likin it big time. Also started the final body mod that I have planned. Not sure if anyone has done this before but I welded filler pieces around the quarter windows to clean up the look of the car. I was hesitant to try this but I'm very pleased with the way it's turning out.

Great thread love the progress I'm in the middle of restoring my 69 Drt GT. Threads like this help motivate me!! thanks!!

Finally done with welding on the car!!! Both quarter windows are welded up and I think this is how Mopar should have built the post cars. It's just a better look IMHO. I also put a lip on the front of the fenders by the headlights so the chrome trim piece will no longer be needed. All ready for filler and block sanding.

Nice job Loosenuts. Interesting touch with the 1/4 windows. Look forward to seeing your progression and how this minor change may change the overall perspective of the car....I wish body and other hot work was in my knowledge base..Oh well, maybe some day. Also like the scoope look. May have to do that on mine if engine doesn't fit under the hood.

The Dart got an early Christmas this year! Picked up most of a 408 shortblock today.

Those are eleptical Dish pistons set up for BOOST!!! See how far the top ring lan is?
Your compression with those pistons will end up at 9:1 or less.

You gunna Boost that engine or get some Regular pistons and up the compression? KB/ICON 745's have a regular dish at 20.5cc instead of the 33+cc you have there.

According to the seller compression would be 9.5 to 1 with 66cc heads. Which should put me at 10 to 1 with the RHS 62cc heads I plan on using. I'll do the math tomorrow

62 cc RHS heads and the 745 icon pistons with 20.5 cc at zero deck will be 10.20:1 or so. The 402 Short block I just sold was set up exactly like that and the compression was 10.20:1 with a .039 Felpro 1008 Gasket.

The 33cc dish pistons will be 9.1 or less depending on the dish you have. More dish cc will be less compression and vice versa.

I am using 62cc rhs heads with the same pistons you have 33cc dish 410 stroker and it is 9:1 with a cometic .040 head gasket. This is on my 67 TT Dart Project that is getting machined right now.

With 66cc heads your compression would be 8.783:1 using the pistons you have at zero deck with an .040 gasket.

Do you know the EXACT CC Dish those pistons and the Compression Distance of the Piston Pin? Either way the pistons you have are Custom Order not sold over the shelf. I know cause I just bought a set.

I am heading to my shop soon and will get the specs off of the box. Too bad you already bought pistons cause I may have a set for sale.....:angry7:
