how much are you getting rid of the XB...? my wife is looking for one....

Hey Lime, it's looking good, any chance you have a pic of the whole engine bay, I would love to see the overall look. Also, do you have a pic of the trans tunnel you fabbed up, I'm just wondering how much surgery I will have to do on mine. Thanks..

I guess its going ok. I have had some issues with the damn rain. It doesnt stop. Cant paint anything and the noise of the rain is driving me crazy. For some reason I am not able to get the computer up and running. I have got power going to it and when I crank I have no spark and no fuel at the injector output. I have measured voltage on those spots while I crank and nothing. I dint even feel the butterfly of the mass airflow move. I have a buddy that is going to bring his DRB inn and we are going to check to see if the computer will read anything. Somehow I have a feeling that the computer might be bad. When I got the donor truck I noticed that the interior steel behind the dash was all rusted and that can only mean that it might have been under water. I am hoping that is not the case.

Hey Tincup here is the pictures you wanted to see.

What did you do for a wiring harness? I ask this because the directions I got with mine were crappy, had to go back and forth from the 03' to 04' instructions to get it right. Let me know what you did, maybe I can help.

Also, can you post a pic of the trans crossmember mount, I'm curious as to what you came up with?

Man, that looks sweet. Any chance of that motor bouncing around in the engine bay against the inner fenders when you really torque the throttle?

great looking build man keep it up. for the computer thing maby check the asd relay (auto shut down). on my 98 we think that or the wiring goin to it is bad. i would guess the newer stuff would have something like that. on mine there is no signal to the coil at all and the fuel pump runs all the time with key on. i am guessing it is the same type thing with yours so it would probably be worth checkin out a lil before forkin over cash for the computer lol

I am using the wiring harness to the donor truck 03 dodge ram 2500 4x4. I cut out all the excess wiring and wound up with this.

I plugged everything inn and wound up with my set up.

Would you happen to have the colors of the wires that you actually hooked up to the Run/Start and the sequence, maybe I have that wrong. I think the color coding and the way they get hooked up is very important and perhaps that is what has gone wrong. It would be good to make reference to this so this way we can help others in the future with their builds.
:read2:
This is the picture of the cross member. I am not the best welder in the world but I got it done.

Hey 5.7, do you have any pic's of your engine compartment? It looks like you are running the car motor, but your alternator is up high, should be down next to the frame rail. Is that a custom touch, or did you do that to make it fit?

That is looking Great!!
Gotta bring up one concern.
I see you removed the "up and over" section of the tranny mount Xmember and are still using the torsion bar suspension.
What did you do to reinforce the floor to pick up the slack?

I have to agree with charger70 on that issue. If anything, box up the tranny mount and somehow add two more bolt holes so that it can absorb the stress. Awsome build otherwise.

67limecrazy, here's goes nothing. ign. switch red, ign. run red, ign. start yellow, and then a power wire from the fuse panel, It took me a few minutes(about 45) to figure this out with the instructions that came with the harness. I really hope this helps you out. Also, your crossmember looks good, but since your running torsion bars, you need to have some metal connecting the torsion bar crossmember, and if you dont already have them, subframe connectors will help take the load off the torsion bar crossmember and spread it out. Just a thought, I'm by no means an expert on these things. If you need more help, send me a pm, and we'll talk on the phone.

Tincup, it's an 03' truck engine and trans. I personally did not like the way the truck manifold looked, so I found a car intake on ebay, made my own fuel rails, made 1 1/2 inch spacers to go between the heads and intake(this gave me just under a 1/4 inch of space from the top of the truck timing cover to the bottom of the throttle body). Then I move the alt. and a/c compressor outward to clear the tb. Also the tb is from the truck so the tb spacer that I put in between had to have the mounting holes enlarged(car and truck tb are ever so slightly different, so is the drive by wire connection). Then I went thru 3 different belts to get the correct length (still not happy with the last belt, it sqeals or chirps if you will, so I think that some adjustable heim joints are in order, that will solve the sqealling or chirping sound). All pulleys are in perfect alignment so thats not the problem. Look at the pics again and you will see what I'm talking about.

One other thing Tincup, you could do the same ( move your alt. and a/c outward, this will give you more hood clearence, angle them downward).

My pics are too big in size for this site to use, sorry.

I don't understand why this site cant upload my latest pics, says the size is too big. I guess it's an ego boost, HA!

Remember that I am running the original harness and the computer. I do have a red wire and the yellow and those are powered. Yesterday we hoked up the DRB and found that the computer does not respond. We also checked the computer for power and ground and everything goes good. The latest we came up with was that the computer must be bad. So my budy will try to find a computer for me at the dealer were he works and we shall see what will be the result of this. I always had a feeling that the computer was bad even before it was installed. I even got $250.00 back from the guy I got the Donor truck from. So atleast that helps to offset the cost. I am just hoping that he comes thru with it so we can get this baby started.

There is a slight chance of the motor twisting a bit but I beleive I shall be good. If anything I can always chain up the Driver side to avoid it.

You know I am glad you guys mentioned this and now thinking about it you are right. I guess I can box the one I made and add a couple more bolts to make it stronger. First I am going to get this baby running and then before I have the Driveshaft manufactured and installed I will get er done. Thanks for looking out guys.

Just seeing it in your pics it appears that the trans mount you made is plenty strong. Another bolt like the factory had will help for sure.
Its how the torsion bar will try to twist the frame that I'm refering to.
If ya think about how much weight the torsion bars carry (entire weight of front half of car) transfered into the frame xmember. I think thats why the factory made the piece we removed so strong.
This is what I did to mine.
Again...Great job you've done so far.

thanks 5.7, but I have the car motor,(for the same reason, I like the fuel injection setup better) that is why I was wondering if you had clearance issues with the alt and frame?
