thank you

Welcome to FABO!! Sounds like you have a good father/son project to get started on. There is plenty of knowledge and parts here you just need to look around a little bit. You can also scour your local Craigslist and salvage yards for parts.

We also like to see pictures of people's rides and them working on it!!

Good luck on your project!! Have fun!

hey there

nice to hear from a new comer with a good project. the more specific the question the better. there is lots of info here, good luck.

I bought my first project at age 15 from my grandfather. It was a 66 Plymouth Barracuda. I knew nothing about cars at the time. When looking for engine parts and such, I couldn't find any for a Plymouth Barracuda. This was a little fustrating as Chevy and Ford parts were all over in catalogs back then.

Then one day I was telling my uncle They don't even make wheels for this Plymouth that I can find. He said sure they do Plymouth, Dodge, Chrysler, and Mopar are all basicly the same and the parts interchange. That one little conversation opened up a whole new world of parts for me.

So you may or may not have already known that, but your post reminded me of how much I didn't know when I was younger.

Nice to have you aboard here at fabo

I know where a 4 door dart is sitting. If i remember right it would be a 68/69 dart ... cant remember exactly. As far as i could see its all there.. just a matter of digging it out from under the shed.

Since your in PA I would recommend going to the all mopar swap meet/car show at the Carlisle fair grounds. TONS of great parts there new and used. I would start making a list of what you need and save up some money and head there.

the fall and spring carlisle don't usually have a lot of mopar stuff but sometimes you can pick up a set of rims there, or sometimes there will be a chevy guy with a mopar part and wont know what its worth and you can score a good deal.

Your Dad's a smart man.. Anyway, there are tons of parts out there & websites dedicated specifically to Darts. Google them, figure out what youneed or want & go from there. WE all had to start sometime, and you're starting with a good car at a great age. Keep this going.post up some pics, ask queations, and you'll get a bunch of support, guaranteed........Good Luck!

Welcome on the board. Step one, get the three books linked in this thread as quickly as you can. Won't cost much and they are worth their weight in gold, no matter whether your Dart has a slant-6 or a V8 engine. Which engine has it got, by the way?

Step two is to decide what kind of car you want in the end....driver, show car, race car, or some combination. The write it all down from tires and wheels to internal engine specs as some items you want will effect the choices you make for other items. I.E. if you add lots of horsepower to the engine, you'll need to beef up the trans and rear end to handle it, not mention better brakes, cooling, etc. Have someone look at your plan (or post it here for us to argue over!) to see if your package will work together to match your goal.
